Lloyd Robertson, one of Canada's most respected and recognizable broadcast journalists, has died at the age of 92. His family confirmed to The Canadian Press in an email that the veteran broadcaster died Tuesday evening. Robertson joined CTV in 1976, serving as chief anchor and senior editor from 1984 to 2011, ending the nightly newscast with his signature trademark sign-off: “That’s the kind of day it’s been.” Over a career that spanned more than five decades, Robertson covered many of the defining moments in Canadian and world history, earning a reputation as a trusted voice in news and current affairs. Tributes are pouring in for the esteemed journalist, with Prime Minister Mark Carney honouring Robertson by saying he “helped Canadians make sense of the world,” and was a “reassuring voice in moments of uncertainty.
