Following her spinal cord injury in 2010 at age 16, and as she was recovering at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago [RIC is the number one rehabilitation hospital in the US for the last 23 consecutive years], Laetitia Hatem asked the Board members of the foundation in Lebanon a simple question: what happens to children in my country whose families do not have the resources and the possibility to send them to the best rehab centers? why is there is a deficiency on this in our country? The Board was quick to react positively to this request and decided to work hard on establishing a center of rehabilitation excellence in Lebanon. After careful review, it selected Hôtel-Dieu de France hospital in Beirut [HDF] as its local deployment partner and of course RIC as its technical / knowledge partner.
