On the evening of June 17, 2015, a young white supremacist named Dylann Roof entered Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Welcomed into a prayer meeting by the congregation, Roof would go on to carry out one of the most horrifying mass killings in modern American history. Nine people lost their lives in a calculated act of racial hatred. The crime sent shockwaves across the country and reignited conversations around racism, radicalisation, and gun violence in the United States. Roof's manifesto and online activity revealed a deep connection to white nationalist ideology, and his lack of remorse stunned even the most seasoned investigators. In this episode, we examine the events leading up to the attack, the timeline of the massacre itself, and the aftermath that followed. We explore how someone so young became so dangerous and how this case left a permanent scar on a grieving community. #TrueCrime #DylannRoof #CharlestonShooting #ICouldMurderAPodcast #ChurchShooting #HateCrime #CrimePodcast #MassShooting #EmanuelAME #RacialViolence #TrueCrimeStories For extra content, bonus episodes and discount codes for merch: www.icmap.co.uk Follow our socials: @couldmurderapod Written & presented by Tom Norris & Ben Carter | @nozzer89 @thisiscarts Produced by Dan Lambert | @dvnjmix Edited by Ben Bonsey #truecrime
