The description tells us that whenever Julius or an ally gains a Shield, all negative effects are removed from that Hero. But does that include an active DoT? And what happens against Heroes like Iris and Tempus? We went into battle to find out. 🔥 JULIUS vs IRIS — INNER FIRE TEST We used Iris and specifically watched Inner Fire. At first, everything works normally. Inner Fire is applied and the damage starts ticking. Then Julius applies a Shield. The result? The DoT damage stops. But there’s a very important detail. The visual effect of Inner Fire can remain visible on the Hero even after the damage itself has stopped. So don’t watch only the animation. Watch the actual damage. 🛡️ THE SHIELD REMOVES THE NEGATIVE EFFECT Once another DoT becomes active, the damage begins again. Another Shield arrives. The negative effect is removed. The damage stops again. This gives us the answer we wanted from Julius Level 20: his Shield interaction can remove an active Damage over Time effect. ⚠️ BUT IRIS IS NOT DEAD! This is where the test becomes even more interesting. There are still windows of opportunity between Shields. If Iris or Tempus gets their DoT working during one of those windows, the damage can become extremely dangerous before another Shield arrives. Julius Level 20 does NOT automatically make DoT Heroes useless. It creates counterplay. 🧠 HOW DO WE REDUCE THOSE WINDOWS? This is where team synergy becomes critical. Nebula can provide another source of negative-effect removal while also healing the team. Crow brings another approach through his powerful Silence, disrupting the opponent and helping reduce the opportunities where those dangerous effects can operate. And additional Shield sources can create even more opportunities for Julius’s Level 20 mechanic to activate. Julius doesn’t fight alone. The strength comes from the five-Hero synergy around him. ⚔️ IS IRIS STILL VALUABLE? Absolutely. If the Julius team leaves an opening, Iris can still punish it. DoT still has enormous damage potential. The difference is that there are now more ways to fight back. When DoT was introduced with Iris, finding strong direct answers to it was extremely difficult. Julius Level 20 gives us another one. That doesn’t destroy Iris.
