Welcome to my channel Fade To Black! What really happened to Kelly McGillis? After her breakthrough performance in Peter Weir’s Witness, McGillis appeared destined for major Hollywood stardom. Top Gun made her internationally famous, while The Accused demonstrated that she had far more to offer than conventional leading-lady roles. Yet, while Tom Cruise’s career continued climbing, Kelly McGillis gradually disappeared from mainstream Hollywood. But this wasn’t simply the familiar story of an actress whose career faded. Behind the scenes, McGillis was dealing with trauma, addiction and a growing discomfort with the industry surrounding her. Eventually, she made the conscious decision to build a very different kind of life. This is the story of Kelly McGillis—and what really happened after Top Gun. ⭐ BECOME A CHANNEL MEMBER: [PASTE MEMBERSHIP LINK] ☕ SUPPORT FADE TO BLACK: [PASTE BUY ME A COFFEE LINK] CHAPTERS 0:00 What Really Happened to Kelly McGillis? 0:44 Peter Weir’s Problem 1:07 Witness (1985) 1:46 Top Gun (1986) 2:31 The Accused (1988) 3:08 Michelle Pfeiffer 3:29 Juilliard 3:38 Reuben, Reuben (1983) 3:48 Bachelor Party (1984) 4:15 Made in Heaven (1987) 4:17 The House on Carroll Street (1988) 4:24 Cat Chaser (1989) 5:12 The Assault 5:28 Fred Tillman 5:34 Addiction 5:58 Rehab 6:53 Top Gun: Maverick (2022) 7:49 Smaller Roles 8:15 Kelly’s Bar 8:43 In Conclusion If you enjoyed this retrospective, please like the video, subscribe and let me know your memories of Kelly McGillis in the comments.
