HM Dockyard Portsmouth - February 10th, 1906 and a massive hull slides down the ways to the hooting and blasting of steam whistles. Her name was HMS Dreadnought and when she was introduced Dreadnought really did live up to her name - she was an absolutely enormous step forward and even the newest classes of British warship like HMS Lord Nelson were made to look lumbering and positively ancient. It sparked a craze across the globe - a moment so utterly striking that warships made before that point became simply known as pre-Dreadnoughts.
