Luke Skywalker embraces his destiny on Tatooine and sets out on a journey to become a Jedi. Who is Luke Skywalker? Luke Skywalker lives in a galaxy dominated by the Empire. As he sets out on a quest to train in the ways of the Force and the Jedi, Luke will gain wisdom from the teachings of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, now known simply as Ben Kenobi, learn to use his father Anakin's Skywalker's lightsaber, and leave his home planet of Tatooine aboard the Millennium Falcon. The ship, piloted by Han Solo and the mighty Wookiee, Chewbacca, heads off on a mission to Alderaan, but soon finds the planet has been destroyed by the Empire's battle station, the Death Star. To save the galaxy, Luke Skywalker and his new friends must go undercover and infiltrate the massive battle station, roughly the size of a small moon, to rescue Princess Leia Organa and deliver the Death Star plans to the Rebel Alliance at their base on Yavin IV. In the end, Luke, Han, Leia, R2-D2, and C-3PO will work together with the other heroes of the Rebellion to destroy the Death Star, with Luke firing the final shot from his X-wing starfighter! But Luke's journey is just beginning. After the Battle of Hoth, a message from Obi-Wan sends Luke Skywalker and his trusty astromech R2-D2 to the swamps of Dagobah in search of Yoda, a mysterious and powerful Jedi Master, who will show him the true power of the Force and help him become a Jedi Knight! Yoda teaches Luke that the Force is all around us, and is to be used for knowledge and defense -- never for attack. To ultimately succeed, the son of Skywalker must learn to resist the dark side; before his training is complete, however, Luke rushes off to save his friends and battle Darth Vader in a lightsaber duel. Luke is badly injured and must retreat to heal and continue his training. In the meantime, his friend Han Solo is captured and frozen in carbonite, then sent back to Tatooine with the bounty hunter Boba Fett to reside at Jabba's palace on Luke's home planet. Fortunately, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian, and the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO pull together once more to rescue Han Solo, free him from the carbonite, and head to the planet of Endor on a new mission for the Rebel Alliance. Luke Skywalker will rise up to become the last of the Jedi, ultimately battling Darth Vader once again in a bid to defeat Emperor Palpatine and redeem Vader, who was not always on the side of the evil Empire. Strong in the Force like his father before him, Anakin Skywalker, Luke will herald the return of the Jedi until his attempt to rebuild the Jedi Order ultimately fails and, with the rise of Kylo Ren and the First Order, he finds himself in exile on Ahch-To. Only through the perseverance of the scavenger Rey from Jakku and Leia Organa will he be called back into action to help his friends in the Resistance. Luke's story is a key element in the Skywalker saga, the core connecting his father Anakin's rise to power as a Jedi in the time of the Clone Wars, and the future of the Jedi Order after the fall of the Empire.  In the end, Luke Skywalker is one of Star Wars' greatest heroes and a legend of the Rebel Alliance. You can see Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Star Wars Rebels.
