Twelve hours to free one 79 Series from black soil, then 140km of rainforest that hasn't seen a 4WD in five years. Shaun Whale and Graham Cahill push from Coen to Stony Creek. Part 2. Missed Part 1? Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFXgD0GU2Cs Part 2 of the west-to-east run across Cape York, from Pormpuraaw on the Gulf side to the east coast at Stony Creek, on tracks the locals reckon can't be driven. Over 200km of low range is already behind the crew, and Shauno's 79 Series is buried to the doors in black soil with tree roots underneath acting like wheel chocks. It takes twelve hours to get it out. Winch, reset, dig, repeat, until someone pulls a spare tyre off another rig and runs the winch rope over the top of it to lift the 79 up out of the suction instead of dragging it sideways. Tyres go to 5psi just to limp everyone onto firm ground. The next morning the convoy is split across 100 metres of mud, the BT50 goes down, and the Mits Alloy 79 rips the tip off a stub axle and snaps a CV mid-recovery. Then Coen, the Exchange Hotel, and the first cold beer in a week. East of Coen it gets harder. Dion gives the crew a traditional welcome at Peach Creek before they take on 140km of track that hasn't had a vehicle down it in over five years. A vertical sand wall five minutes in. Regrowth taller than the rigs. Old-growth rainforest with washouts deep enough to swallow a 4WD. Camp under Birthday Mountain, then Attack Creek and the story of the geologist Robert Logan Jack who named both. Chainsaws out every couple of hundred metres, tyres down to 7psi, navigating on foot with torches after dark, Runva winches, Stedi camp lights and a throttle controller earning their keep on one last hill climb. Then the beach, and a feed of saltwater barramundi at the end of it. 🔧 The recovery trick that's got you out of the worst bog you've been in: ____ 📍 The track you'd reopen if you could get the permission: ____ CHAPTERS 0:00 Intro 1:17 Digging the 79 Series out of black soil 5:36 Split camp in the mud 11:14 Snapped CV on the Mits 79 14:41 Coen and the Exchange Hotel 19:17 Traditional welcome at Peach Creek 20:52 Lost track and a sand wall 24:55 Ancient rainforest washouts 28:41 Camp under Birthday Mountain 33:07 Attack Creek soft sand 40:22 Losing the track after dark 49:04 The last hill climb 52:00 Stony Creek and the east coast 📱 FOLLOW OUR SOCIALS for behind the scenes content Instagram 👉🏻 @4wd247 Facebook 👉🏻 @4wd247 TikTok 👉🏻 @4wd247 ----------------- Our Crew: ----------------- Tim from Stedi: https://www.stedi.com.au/ Az from Mits: https://www.mitsalloy.com.au Tony from GME: https://www.gme.net.au/au/ Pete from Ultimate9: https://www.ultimate9.co/au/ ---------------- Our Gear: ---------------- 4WD Roof Racks: https://rola.com.au/ Beer: https://www.xxxx.com.au/agegate/ 4WD Spotlights: https://www.stedi.com.au/ 4WD Tyres: https://www.bridgestone.com.au/ First Aid Kits: https://survivalfirstaidkits.net.au/ 4WD Protective Paint: https://raptordiy.com.au/ UHF & Comms Gear: https://www.gme.net.au/au/ Suspension: https://fulcrumsuspensions.com.au/ The RITE oil for your rig: https://penriteoil.com.au/ Throttle Controllers: https://www.ultimate9.co/au/ Off-Road Winches: https://www.runvawinch.com.au 12v Setups: https://www.redarcelectronics.com/au/ High Quality Alloy Wheels: https://csawheels.com.au/ Premium Tangle-Free Guy Ropes: https://tiegear.com/ One stop shop for car parts: https://www.repco.com.au/ Experts in heavy duty storage: https://expedition134.com/ Tough Aussie-made exhausts: https://pacemaker.com.au/ Premium 4x4 Accessories: https://www.scrubking.com.au/ 4x4 Mods & Maintenance: https://www.pinnacle4x4.com.au Shaun & Graham's Tray & Canopy: https://www.mitsalloy.com.au Shaun & Graham's Fridge: https://www.dometic.com/en-au/outdoor Off-Road accessories for the wild & fun: https://offroadanimal.com.au/ Premium Engine Replacement Parts: https://www.gatesaustralia.com.au/ Check out the new range of BT-50's: https://www.mazda.com.au/cars/new-bt-50/ Samba natural firelighters are available at https://www.bunnings.com.au/brands/s/samba Towing Mirrors, fridge slides & towing accessories: https://www.clearviewaccessories.com.au/ Shaun, Graham, Jock & Jesse — formerly with 4WD Action — have been delivering Australia's best off-road content for 20+ years.
