ADIEU PHILIPPINE ("Farewell, Philippine") is a 1962 French film, directed by Jacques Rozier. It stars Jean-Claude Aimini, Stefania Sabatini and Yveline Céry. The original screenplay was written by Rozier and Michèle O'Glor. Georges de Beauregard, Giulio Sbarigia and Giuseppe Valenzano were the producers. Michel (Aimini), a young technician in the fledgling French TV industry, is due for military service at the time of the Algerian War. Juliette (Sabatini) and Liliane (Céry) are teenage friends and aspiring actresses, who hang outside Michel's TV studio. Michel invites the girls in to watch, flirts with them both and dates them, separately and together. When Michel goes on a holiday to Corsica, just before he's drafted, Juliette and Liliane follow, and the three search for a film director, who owes Michel money. François Truffaut praised ADIEU PHILIPPINE, calling it "the clearest success of the new cinema, where spontaneity is all the more powerful when it is the result of long and careful work." The film was photographed by René Mathelin, with music from Jacques Denjean, Paul Mattei and Maxime Saury. In French, with English subtitles.
