Why is the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus true? We give here a direct explanation/proof of why an ANTIDERIVATIVE can be used to find an AREA. We do this in a way that is different (better) than what is typically done, which usually involves first explaining part 1 of the FTC (the part involving a derivative of an integral), and only indirectly to showing why part 2 is true (the part the says that an area can be found from an antiderivative).
