The Judge Rotenberg Educational Center (JRC) is a controversial residential school in Canton, Massachusetts that serves students with developmental disabilities and behavioral issues. These aversives include electric shock therapy, as well as other forms of physical restraint and punishment. The use of these methods has been widely condemned by disability rights groups, medical professionals, and other experts. In recent years, the JRC has faced numerous lawsuits and regulatory actions, and the use of aversives has been restricted or banned in several states. Despite this, the JRC continues to operate and has a loyal base of supporters who believe that its methods are necessary and effective in helping students with severe behavioral issues.
