In this case, his stutter was only an issue for him because he believed it was. That is: we may have helped him to get over it, but even with the stutter he could still meet and attract beautiful women, so long as he reached the point where he didn't act like it was an issue at all. At that point, ironically, he becomes even more attractive because he is showing strong belief and confidence in the face of something that would cause others to hide themselves away.
