Currently Playing: Division By 7?

In this short, we show how to create and use a relatively simple graph (network of nodes and edges) to allow us to use the digits of a base ten representation of a number to determine the remainder of a number when divided by 7 (hence giving us a divisibility test if the remainder is zero). If you want to download your own version of this graphical template, check out my etsy download: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4517179138/divisibility-by-seven-graph If you like this video, consider subscribing to the channel or consider buying me a coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/VisualProofs. Thanks! I learned about this first from a video by Marc Chamberland https://youtu.be/6fW6ntXUdLY?si=NxstwlWX6v4f4k_W and then more in an article in the Monthly: https://doi.org/10.1080/00029890.2023.2298181 But it showed up in 2009 on Tanya Khovanova's blog: https://blog.tanyakhovanova.com/2009/08/divisibility-by-7-is-a-walk-on-a-graph-by-david-wilson/ There have also been cool videos done about this by James Tanton: https://youtu.be/mSWMXlbsBKM?si=oFM5P62_qKnaUuh3 Mind Your Decisions: https://youtu.be/vxHrfIom-YA?si=7zuQZNcdSYA2PhyJ #math #manim #divisibilityrule #divisibilitytricks #numbertheory To learn more about animating with manim, check out: https://manim.community
