"Thematically, "Worst rave EVER" (this is case-sensitive) continues the same themes of Vid's indulgent spiral. It's an excuse to make some party music. At the end of 2013, I had gotten in contact with FeatherVOCALS, a singer and songwriter who I had deeply admired as I ventured into the Vylet Pony music project. We wanted to make some music together, so at one point I made a demo called "Club 3Q" with her vocals in mind. Contrary to the music she usually engaged with — softer, acoustic ballads and eclectic indietronica pop songs — “Club 3Q” was going to be a dutch-inspired house tune. It never ended up working out, and Feather went on a hiatus from the internet shortly before we had a proper chance to work together. Though as I write this, she actually just announced her return after 10 years. I'll likely write more about her in the future, as she has played a significant role in inspiring me to create! Either way, I ended up gutting that 2013 demo and turned it into “Worst rave EVER.” Really, the original demo was a single kick drum pattern and a melody, and that's it. I sampled the melody stem to create this new song. The title was inspired by the YouTube video of the same name, a reupload of some livestream footage of that one Brony convention. It was titled "Worst rave EVER" because its presentation encouraged viewers to laugh at all the performers and attendees. While I have my own condemning thoughts of Bronies and Brony culture, the video's intention was to mock (mostly) benign aspects of the convention, so I have zero sympathy for it. I adapted the idea from the title, wanting to create a song about finding a positive perspective even within stupid ass situations. This is the case even if, in the context of the album's story, Vid isn't really dealing with things in a wholly productive way. I spent way, way, way too long getting the 808 sub on this track to be as obnoxiously bassy as I could get it.
