Is your refrigerator running? Ours is! The #PIP2coldbox was moved across the Fermilab campus on Jan. 15. The Proton Improvement Plan-II project is an essential upgrade to Fermilab’s accelerator complex to enable the world’s most intense high-energy neutrino beam. The coldbox is at the heart of the cryogenic system to keep the accelerating structures for the linear accelerator cold. PIP-II will power the Fermilab accelerator complex to provide neutrinos for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment to study. The cryogenic plant is being provided as an in-kind contribution from the Department of Atomic Energy in India.
