Currently Playing: Peeling Ash bark after toasting the wood in a fire #shorts

It's been a lovely day out in the woods (thanks Dave Budd) with colleagues from the Experimental Archaeology at Exeter department doing some metalworking and in my case, cutting down four (very small) trees so we could try different bark peeling methods. Today, toasting the trunks over the fire in a very convenient forge meant the bark peeled off really easily. This will now be turned into pouches, cordage, baskets and anything else we can think of.
