Protecting ships, especially combat ships, in Space Engineers is now made better by Heavy Industry. The new armour plating (panels) provides an extra layer of armour, and ablative protection to your land/space vehicles. Not only do they look great, can be used to add detail and more, but they do indeed act to keep your creation safer from enemy fire. How safe? I know they're Armour Panels, but I really want to refer to them as plating in my head. Can you layer a heavy panel onto a light armour block, get better protection and less weight?
