This song is such a classic and yet I never knew where it came from. I just learned today that it’s from a musical called Sweet Charity which came out in the 1960s (and was choreographed by Bob Fosse so it must be good!) Both Peggy Lee and Shirley Bassey recorded the song (Peggy being the first), and it ended up permeating mainstream media over the decades. And of course as a jazz singer I just had to add it to my repertoire!
