AMV

Music videos that I made for songs that I like. High effort stuff. Probably the most original, too

This is my open love letter to Umineko, on the occasion of re-reading it 6 years after my first time So many things happened in these years. Mostly bad, but in spite of them I keep living somehow. I still remember how I made this video 5 years ago (has it really been 5 years? -- yes, it has...). I had just been listening to this song, which appears in Wreckfest -- a pretty good racing game btw -- and then later at night I suddenly get a massive surge of inspiration, and a whole storyboard just appears in my head as I am trying to doze off. The next day (Friday) I kept thinking about it the whole day, and as I was back from work, I started working on it. Despite its length, it was done in the Sunday evening, and I, with my hands shaking from excitement, showed this to my flatmates, oooo... This was magical. This doesn't happen every day. One small issue though -- I had to sacrifice a song that I loved. After 2.5 days listening to the same song, I couldn't stand it anymore. Then I also noticed that the audio quality was absolutely abysmal... But I couldn't stand looking at it anymore, so I just left it the way it was. Then some things happened, I also got married. After that, it took me two years to convince my wife to start reading Umineko, and additional two years to convince her to start finishing reading it. It was all worth it in the end. Beautiful story, even years after. I actually appreciated it much more reading it the second time, because I knew where to look, and of course, looking at someone read it, adds yet another level to the experience. I actually cried at end, which doesn't happen to me very often. Only animes from Studio Ghibli could consistently squeeze tears out of me. It was brilliant. So... I got a little spark of inspiration, which helped me overcome the cringe of looking at my old works, and I tried to do this best work of mine a little justice, by fixing what I didn't want to fix before. Funny thing, I haven't done video editing for several years, so I had to watch my own tutorial on making videos. Very very thoughtful of me, I am thankful to past me for this. Song name: "Crucial Fracture" by Jay Ray Changes: better audio, hopefully removed most vfx that effectively destroy video quality minor animation fixes Old video (for archiving comments and comparison purposes, currently unlisted): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ4QtDzJffM Originally posted on 28.02.2021 #umineko
