The PS5 jailbreak scene just took a massive step forward with the latest jailbreak now targeting PlayStation 5 firmware up to version 13.60. This is extremely recent PS5 firmware, and reports from the jailbreak community show games as new as Marvel’s Wolverine running on jailbroken consoles. Even more surprising, firmware 13.60 was reportedly being exploited only days after Sony released it. With some brand-new PS5 consoles still potentially shipping on jailbreak-compatible firmware, the gap between Sony’s latest PS5 system software and the PlayStation hacking community has become remarkably small. The timing is especially significant after Sony announced plans to end physical game production for future PlayStation releases. The decision triggered major backlash from PS5 owners concerned about physical games, game preservation, ownership, used games, lending, and an increasingly digital-only PlayStation ecosystem. The PS5 jailbreak community quickly connected Sony’s physical media decision with the growing importance of video game preservation. The PlayStation Blackout protest also encouraged some PS5 owners to disconnect their consoles from the internet, meaning players who remained offline may have unintentionally avoided firmware 14.00 and preserved a PS5 capable of running the new jailbreak. This raises major questions about the future of PS5, PS6, GTA 6, PlayStation game preservation, and Sony’s ability to stay ahead of PS5 hackers. Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida has argued that gamers are still very happy with PS5 and that there is no urgent need for PS6, which could keep millions of players on PlayStation 5 hardware for years. If the PS5 generation lasts longer than expected while jailbreak developers continue pushing toward newer firmware, Sony may have to deal with this security battle for a long time. The fight between PlayStation’s increasingly digital future and a community focused on hardware control, homebrew, game preservation, and PS5 jailbreaking may only be getting started. #PS5 #Gaming #PlayStation 🟥 BUSINESS EMAIL - hello@omniarch.tv 👾 TWITCH - http://twitch.tv/omniarchtv 📸 INSTAGRAM - http://bit.ly/OmniInsta 🔴 YOUTUBE - https://www.youtube.com/xOmniarch Chapters: 0:00 HUGE PS5 Jailbreak 7:14 Sony is in the “Find Out” stage 12:20 Now what...?
