Just as God judged the wicked generation with water in the days of Noah and with fire in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, God foretold through the prophets that He would judge this wicked and adulterous generation with fire and taught His children to live holy and godly lives. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. . . .
