It's time. >> Out of all of the Souls games that I have never played, this is probably the one I've been most excited about. Mostly because I think people's opinions of it are so mixed. For the longest time, I thought that Dark Souls 2 was just like the worst game in the series. Just because of the way people talk about it. The more and more I've gotten into like Dark Souls and stuff, the more people I see like defending this game. I've heard some people say that this game is terrible. I've heard most people say that it's not the best in the series, but still worth playing. And I've even seen people who say it's their favorite Souls game. I've also heard people say that this is the most rage inducing Souls game. All right, I'm just going to go right [music] in. Start new game. It's the opening cutscene. Perhaps you've seen it. Maybe in a dream. Woah. This looks like some cutscene out of like Fallout 1. It looks strange. I thought it looked bad at first, but it actually kind of looks nice. >> A place where souls are made manifest. >> It actually kind of looks good. >> You will lose everything. >> No, I won't. I assume it was kind of like Game of the Year edition. Get all the DLC and stuff. What the hell? I didn't even read what that was. Now I'm getting like screen tearing, I think. I look kind of cool. I'm half health. I'm assuming I'm going to go get bodied by a boss that I'm not supposed to fight, and then it's going to be like, "Oh, you were actually supposed to have that boss fight." Oh my god, I got punches. A lame ass punch. I got no force behind that [ __ ] I'm going to get killed right as I step foot in here. I'm going to get sacrificed to the witches. Oh my, hear our pleas. I don't really know what any of those symbols are down there. I can kind of guess like, all right, the heart is, you know, your health. The book and the stars probably faith and intelligence. But like, what is legs? My face? The evil skull? I I don't know what these are. I'm going to do explorer just cuz it's different. I'm assuming I'll be able to find the knight outfit at some later time. Oh yeah, we got gift. Can have a life ring, human effigy, returns the hollow to life, healing wares, bonfire. Whatever the [ __ ] that means. Petrified something. A simple petrified lump. It may be of use someday. Well, I mean, I got to take this one. All right. Is this your true self? I got 5 minutes with this thing. All right. Also, how do I know that? My internal clock is amazing. Wait, how dark is it going to get if I actually got to like manage my torches? Oh dear god. My end goal is to find a katana. I'm assuming there's going to be one in this game somewhere. In the meantime, though, I'll just grab like a great sword or something. If there is a katana, I'm probably not going to find it for a little bit. End goal, katana, some like flowy robes. What the [ __ ] is that thing? I got a life gem. I don't know what that does. One of the very few things I do know about this game, I'm pretty sure that enemies just like never de-aggro. So like in Dark Souls 1, if you ran far away enough, the enemies would eventually give up and not chase you anymore. In this game, I don't think they stop chasing you until you rest at a bonfire or are like in the next area or something, I think. >> Go. Go. Go. What? There's nothing over here. Okay, this is one of the things I'm most excited for. Majula. The one thing that even people who don't like this game say is that Majula is one of the nicest hub areas in a Souls game. Or at least that's what I've heard. Please tell me it's as cozy as I thought it would be. Oh, baby. This is what I'm talking about. Actually, my favorite thing in Souls games is cozy hub areas that feel safe. All right, man. Okay, so I already have the fast travel unlocked.
