Watch the official music video for “Minerva” by Deftones, the lead single from their landmark 2003 self-titled album, Deftones. Blending colossal walls of shoegaze guitar distortion with soaring, cathartic melodies and Chino Moreno’s ethereal vocals, “Minerva” is a lush, atmospheric alternative metal anthem celebrating emotional transcendence, devotion, and finding peace amid chaos. Featuring Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Chi Cheng, Abe Cunningham, and Frank Delgado, the track highlighted the band's mastery of blending brutal heaviness with dreamy texture. Its stunning music video, directed by Paul Fedor, captures the band performing in the harsh conditions of the California desert during an intense sandstorm, bringing the song’s themes of beauty, turbulence, and resilience to life. Released as a single in 2003, “Minerva” became a major modern rock hit, reaching No. 9 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart and No. 16 on the Mainstream Rock chart, while also securing a top 20 spot on the UK Singles Chart. The song remains one of Deftones’ signature recordings, alongside alternative metal classics like “Change (In the House of Flies),” “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away),” “My Own Summer (Shove It),” “Digital Bath,” and “Diamond Eyes.” Following the massive critical and commercial success of 2000's White Pony, the self-titled Deftones album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. Darker, heavier, and intensely layered, the record expanded the band’s sonic boundaries and solidified Deftones as one of the most innovative and uncompromising forces in modern heavy rock. 🔔 Subscribe to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/deftones Listen to _Deftones_ : https://bio.to/deftones Follow _Deftones_ Website: https://deftones.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/deftones/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/deftones/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/deftones TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@deftones Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/artist/6Ghvu1VvMGScGpOUJBAHNH Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/artist/deftones/1092903 Bandsintown: https://www.bandsintown.com/a/81-deftones Songkick: https://www.songkick.com/artists/83230-deftones Minerva Lyrics: I get all numb When she sings that it's over Such a strange numb And it brings my knees to the earth And God bless you all For the song you sang us You're the same numb When you sing it's over Such a strange numb It could bring back peace to the earth So God bless you all For the song you sang us all For the hearts you break, every time you moan I get all numb We're the same numb And it brings our knees to the earth So God bless you all For the song you sang us all For the hearts you break, every time you moan And God bless you all on the earth #Deftones #Minerva
