Conas taoi? How are ye? Welcome back to Candlelit Tales, the podcast where we let Irish myths breathe again, carried by an original musical. This is it. The Battle of Gabhra. Cath Gabhra. The final episode of our Fianna Saga. We won't pretend this one was easy to make. We were both brought to tears as we told this one. We both wept… but what could we expect? We weren't exactly looking forward to it. We rarely do that, not like this. But something about reaching the end of this story, this world, these characters we've lived with for so long... it crept up on us, and it got us. This is the story of the end of the Fianna. And in this final chapter, the great heroes meet their end. You are forewarned. This is the end of their epic saga. It is a tragedy in the truest sense. We have tried to honour it. And we hope, in the best possible way, you too are moved by it. Because we are in a world full of bleak and destructive news and hateful points of view. So we take solace in these old stories in these times. Because even in the darkness, we can connect to human grief and collectively feel something. The beautiful artwork for this arc was created by our wonderful mother Maria Magee, (the artist, and the mother of Aron and Sorcha). We feel so lucky to have had her vision woven through this series. You can find more of her work on Instagram @mariamagee.ie A gentle note before you listen: this story contains mentions of murder, and death. Please be kind to yourself as you listen, and step away if you need to. You matter more than any myth. After this episode, we're going to take a little breath. This saga has taken so much out of us… and we need a moment. But we will be back. We promise. Keep an eye out for news soon. To everyone who has followed the Fianna Saga from the beginning, thank you. From the bottom of our hearts. You have no idea what it means to us that you've been here for all of it.
