#NaughtyDog #FreedomForce #retrogaming In this week’s episode of The Electric Playground we head to Santa Monica, California, where our own Julie Stoffer connects with Naughty Dog’s founders, Jason Rubin and Andy Gavin to talk about the company’s impressive history. Them Becky Masseth is in Las Vegas, Nevada touching base with Roger Lodge from Blind Date in our GameFace segment. Ed Fries from Xbox joins us from Redmond, Washington to tell us about what to forward to on Microsoft’s new console in Xbox Watch. Then after the break, EP heads to New York City to dig into the efforts of the Entertainment Software Ratings Board and we chat with chairman, Gregory Fischbach and Dr. Arthur Power, the president of the ESRB. In Code Busters, Nazanin delivers some secrets for MegaMan X5. Then Tommy Tallarico hirts the track at Seas Point Raceway in Sonoma, California to get the scoop on Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec for the PlayStation 2. Tommy chats with pro race car driver, Tyler McQuarrie and associate product manager, Mark Valledor, about the game. Afterwards, Tom Russo from Next Gen Magazine, answers EP’ Question of the Week: “What was the first sports videogame?” In EP’s pocket reviews, Victor Lucas looks at F-Zero Maximum Velocity for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. After that Victor is in Boston, Massachusetts to interview Ken Levine at Irrational Entertainment about Freedom Force. Also guest starring in this segment is Alexx “Dr. Kewl” Kay, the game’s junior producer (and excellent supervillain). In Reviews on the Run it’s: Sheep for PC Vanishing Point for Dreamcast NHL FaceOff 2001 for PlayStation 2 NBA ShootOut 2001 for PlayStation 2 SimCoaster for PC The Electric Playground episodes are digitized and upscaled by the University of Toronto Mississauga Library.
