Well, this happened today. Its been a long time since I have done anything here on this channel but this is something I feel like has to be posted before someone else beats me to the bat. Skip to 1:20 if you feel inclined. I was planning on making a more proper video addressing my future ambitions here after being away for so long but like all things in life it seems, that wasn't how things ended up. There is a much bigger story to this that I want to tell but I have to get a proper video editor on this new PC I have and I'm working on getting that all done but today was just supposed to be a test run of equipment while the weather was nice. In that process, I happened to witness one of the biggest moments I have ever caught on camera. I rarely ever speak in videos however I legitimately feared that this trucker was about to die as trains normally run at 59mph+ on this section of the Erie West Subdivision and he seemed to freeze up at the worst possible time. Just to be clear, by the time I realized that there was a train on the Erie West Sub (I166), the train probably wouldn't have been able to stop in time as well as report the train into a dispatcher. I was aware of the blue placard but in the moment, I didn't know if the info was the same for both railroads and the scanner I do have does not allow me to communicate to the crews and to add insult to injury, it wasn't working properly today. I did not hear anything over the radio on csx until it was too late. Both of these trains had similar horns and with just how windy it was out here, it was really hard to make out what was where in person. All I could really do was watch and let the camera roll by that point. To add further context to this video. 315 was in the siding waiting on 2 trains. I was chasing one of these two trains down SR 84 paralleling the NS Lake Erie District when downtown Madison was super clogged up. Hearing the train I was chasing call a mile out, I made the decision to jump down North State Street to catch him. I debated trying to go to the bridge at Ashtabula but right before I was about to leave, 315 popped up in the siding.I decided to stay and watch a meet as I noticed the signal was green at the west end of CP Madison. Everything seemed normal as another train passed. Eventually, 315 was cleared to leave when everything started to unfold. I then noticed what was quite possibly my worst fear as I saw this semi sitting on the tracks. I was completely unaware about 166 even being in the area but it roared up the hill by Madison on the east side of town and then it all went downhill from there. This video shows the aftermath.
