Quincy Police say a 27-year-old man was driving west on Wisman Lane shortly before 1:30 a.m. when he made a wide left turn and accidentally drove onto the railroad tracks. The vehicle became lodged on the tracks roughly 180 feet southwest of the intersection of 30th Street and Wisman Lane. The driver and two passengers got out of the car and tried unsuccessfully to push it clear. Moments later, the crossing gates at 30th and Wisman lowered as a southwestbound freight train approached. The train struck the rear of the vehicle, shoving it an estimated 300 feet down the tracks before coming to a stop. No injuries were reported.
