Modest Mouse Covers

Currently Playing: Modest Mouse - "Shit in Your Cut" (cover by Sascha Frost)

I'm really liking the new album "Strangers to Ourselves", which I just listened to for the first time yesterday. I've only heard this song about 4 times, but I decided to cover it anyway. I love the chorus riff so much ... reminds me of early 90s alternative rock/emo, the way it just kind of rings out in neutrality. I was thinking of maybe doing a review of the album soon, once I listen to it a bunch more times. I'll have to say though, at this point it is better than I expected. Great dance beats, bass grooves, noisyness, and catchy riffs. I even like "Pistol", haha. Has that "Tiny Cities Made of Ashes" kind of feel to it. Anyway, hope you enjoy this one, and let me know if you'd like to see me do a review of the album! If you're wondering about how I played it in this version ... some of the parts are slightly different than in the original song. But if you like the way I play it here, I'll give you a short tutorial: Basic verse chords are (capo on 3rd fret) (022xxx) (5577xx) ^ same chords for the chorus basically. For some of the other parts, you can use these same chords, just hold the (5577xx) for another measure before going back to (022xxx). If you follow my hand movements, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out because I am basically playing the same chords throughout, aside from the chorus riff. And to play the chorus riff, start on the d string, 2nd fret. Strum that with the open g string (keep in mind, still capo on 3rd) to play this chord: (xx20xx). Keep your finger on the d string, and slide up to the 4th fret. Repeat the last 2 steps, but instead slide up from the 5th to 7th ... then repeat that again, playing the note on the 4th fret d string, followed by the 2nd fret note on the d string (still with the open g being played on each note). That's pretty convoluted I know, but I don't have a guitar handy so that's a "from memory" tab. I will update it later and check for mistake.
