This orchard and meadow were restored around ten years ago, but as time passes, even the most wildlife-friendly spaces can become difficult to manage. In this video, I return to help an older couple bring balance back to their orchard - not by stripping it bare, but by working with what’s there. Brambles, long grass and scrub all have value, but they can also overwhelm fruit trees, reduce light, and limit access. Orchard restoration isn’t about clearing everything away - it’s about *selective work*, timing, and understanding how wildlife and people can share the same space. We look at: • when bramble clearance helps rather than harms • why orchards need occasional intervention • how meadows, fruit trees and wildlife coexist • and why “doing nothing” isn’t always the kindest option This is slow, thoughtful work - the kind that respects both the land and the people who live with it.
