Resident Evil: Requiem is a spectacular descent into a new, iconic location. Its monsters chew the scenery, bringing a fresh perspective to how we see zombies of old. It experiments with new mechanics and systems in a way that leads to constant, emergent horror that boils your blood. Its handling of tension and catharsis is brooding and explosive and it regularly reminds the player just how good this series can be when it leans into the haunting stickiness of its terror.
