Listen to the full album audio of *Live at the Blue Note Chicago*, an archival 1953 concert recording capturing Nat King Cole's historic residency at Frank Holzfeind's pioneering jazz club. Released in 2024 by Iconic Artists Group, the meticulously restored audio features Cole returning to his roots on piano and vocals alongside his virtuosic small-group combo: John Collins (guitar), Charlie Harris (bass), and Lee Young (drums). The intimate setlist highlights Cole’s fluid keyboard work and peerless phrasing on defining standards like "Unforgettable," "Route 66," and "It's Only a Paper Moon". By 1953, Cole had already evolved from the leader of the King Cole Trio into a mainstream pop superstar for Capitol Records, yet this club date proves his improvisational instincts and swing remained as sharp as ever. The original tapes, recorded by Holzfeind himself, place listeners directly into the room during a transformative era of American jazz and traditional pop. *Live at the Blue Note Chicago* serves as a vital historical document bridging the gap between Cole's early small-combo jazz and his later orchestral vocal masterpieces. Beyond showcasing his globally recognizable voice, the album reestablishes his formidable reputation as a highly influential jazz pianist and bandleader, capturing the spontaneous energy of 1950s live music at one of the country's most significant venues.
