Load times comparison for GTA V & Online across all five available platforms (PC, PS4, XB1, PS3, 360). This simultaneously shows how long it takes to load GTA V into story mode and GTA Online into public/invite only sessions on all platforms which run it. More details below. See all GTA Fact-Finding videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLx_tHjuVuROBwRYf-XczFculQliuk1f1k Full Testing Details First of all a disclaimer - this isn't meant to be a 100% accurate, same-for-everyone comparison. Especially when it comes to loading into online, variations in connection quality will cause others to perhaps see different results. Whilst I did take every effort to make sure things were identical across platforms (such as being in an apartment each time for online) these are just the results I found personally and I am just one sample. With that being said, below you will find an explanation of the details of the testing and how it was done. Breakdown of game versions PC: Steam PS4: Digital XB1: Digital PS3: Disc 360: Disc All testing was done by myself and on the same internet connection (160 down, 12 up) across PC, PS4, PS3 & 360. XB1 testing was done by a number of people (thanks for the help) and I ended up using footage from iTwisterr as initial conditions most closely matched what I'd been doing myself. PC specs were i7 4770k CPU OC to 4.2 GHz, Radeon R9 270 GPU, and installed to a 1 TB Western Digital Blue HDD. Loading Into Story Mode Very simple test, I started the game from the home screen of all platforms and synced up the footage in the video to the point at which the game begins to load on each. The time shown is the time from this point to the first frame at which the story mode character is shown, plus 1 second to allow it to be shown in the video. Loading Into GTA Online (Invite Only) Straight after doing the previous test I started up an invite only session and synced up the footage from the point at which the confirmation message that you'd be exiting story mode disappeared. The time shown is the time from this point to the first frame at which the online character is shown, plus 1 second. I made sure all characters spawned in a building too for accuracy. Loading Into GTA Online (Public) After leaving GTA Online after the previous test I joined a public session by using the "Go" option in the menu, syncing up the footage from the same point as mentioned above. The time shown is the time from this point to the first frame at which the online character is shown, plus 1 second. Again I made sure all characters spawned in a building for accuracy. Some Conclusions I think the first two tests were what you'd generally expect with PC being much quicker than current gen consoles, which were consequently quicker than old gen consoles. Even taking into account that old gen was disc based I really doubt having them installed directly to the consoles would bring them very much closer to current gen. A surprising aspect was how PS3 took much longer to load the game into story mode than 360, but was quicker heading into an invite only session than even the XB1. This was the only result where the order of loading was different from story mode to invite only online - PS3 had great performance in that area. The final test was the biggest surprise but probably shouldn't have been. Again PC was the quickest and PS platforms beat Xbox, but this time old gen was much quicker to load up than current gen. That actually makes sense though given the lobby sizes on current gen are much larger, so require more juggling about with connections of individuals. When you join on new gen you're basically connecting to more people, which takes more time. At least that was the conclusion I made from this. Anyway I hope this was an interesting video. I figured since I had all versions of the game except Xbox One I was in a unique position to be able to test all of this and display it as part of this Fact Finding series.
