〰️ STR7-018 https://www.discogs.com/Vanderschrick-Onzeker/release/12509512 https://stroomtv.bandcamp.com/album/onzeker It started last year. We lived together in an ordinary flat at Porte de Hal. It went without saying that after a few weeks the first annoyances already had surfaced. On the one hand, there was this so-called musician, bombing the house on a daily basis with his desperate productions. On the other hand, we had this dude who claimed to be a skilled nostalgic but who had never written or achieved anything to prove his lame claims. These guys were us. Can you imagine? Despite everything, it was this set-up from which the two songs on Onzeker came up. We wrote Ongehoord, the B-side, during last Winter. “The charm of your mother drives me mad…” The described crush on a friend’s mom was nothing more than a reflection of our own loner love lives. A-side Ochtendgrijs was written last Spring, in memory of the late Luc De Vos and as an homage to the grey clouded mornings in our native villages. Some time passed. Everything remained the same in St-G except for one thing. Ziggy accidentally came across the two songs and the poor lad pretended to believe in it. We have to thank him for that. Now today, we are here.
