Juniper Certs, Security, and Configuration Tips

In these videos I talk about the Juniper Networks certifications, their free training & labs (Juniper vLabs), and their discounted exam vouchers (75% off) that they all offer for you. It’s really a great opportunity for folks who are just getting into networking to have the opportunity to go after some certifications on some technology that’s really relevant in the industry. There are 6 different Juniper associate certifications that cover different areas. JNCIA-Junos – Juniper Routing and Switching JNCIA-Sec – Juniper Security Devices JNCIA-Cloud – Juniper Cloud, Software Defined Networks, and Virtualization JNCDA – Architecture and Design (This is somewhat agnostic and my favorite of the group) JNCIA-DevOps – Juniper Automation JNCIA-MistAI - Wireless (added in Fall 2020) These certifications are equivalent to the skill level of the Cisco CCNA. So, if you are just getting into networking, it might be best to establish an understanding of topics covered in the Network+ first before jumping into these.

I put out a tweet on Twitter a week ago listing some of the top hands on things/configurations that I think all new network engineers (or people who want to be network engineers) should learn and practice as they are starting to get into the industry. The tweet got a lot of positive feedback so I wanted to take it a step further and provide some additional context and information along with this list. The list is vendor agnostic and really applicable whether you are learning Cisco, Juniper, Dell, Arista, ect... The list includes the following: Create accounts/permissions Create VLANs Create switchports Create trunk ports Create layer 3 interfaces Create static routes Configuring logging Learn show commands for all the above What do you think? Am I way off or do you have some other ones? 00:00 - Intro 01:20 - Overview/Caveats 03:04 - Users and Permissions 04:31 - VLANs 05:06 - Switchports 06:12 - Trunk Ports 07:49 - Layer 3 Interfaces 08:48 - Static Routing 10:27 - Logging 11:51 - Show Commands 13:24 - Wrap-Up **Below you'll find what are known as affiliate links.
