Finally got down to editing through this one and it ended up a lot longer than I expected - but overall this one just had a lot more happening in it than the last video so it does make sense it would be lengthier. Overall I did enjoy this level, the sneaking mechanic was fun and dealing with the big rooms with all the giants was an interesting time. HOWEVER... I got a huge bone to pick with how some things are designed from a gameplay perspective in GTFO overall, and this level showcases for me a lot of just poorly made decisions that reflect pretty poorly on the player experience. For one, Error Alarm spawned enemies being able to show up in rooms that the players haven't even had the chance to get to or explore is beyond frustrating. A good example of this is our first attempt in this level, as on top of the fact that it's random where the Error Wave can spawn, it is also random where the main danger of R5C1 Secondary (The Mother) can spawn. This means that like in our first try, it is completely possible for the RNG to line up for a run to get completely screwed over by the Error Wave to simply spawn on top of the Mother and wake her up, having all those enemies break through 2 rooms to get to us on top of anything else that may be between us and them. That's just a really horrid game design thing that I very much disagree with. Secondly, the main objectives of this level are Terminal Uplinks, which have a random chance on being on different Terminals each run. This makes it so things like planning stuff out or learning from past experience on the level is practically thrown out the window because after every 1 hour and 30 minute failed run you do something different happens and you're of course not going to be ready for it. I mention it in my video that some variance is not at all a problem, but for example the Terminal randomness in the Secondary Objective jumps from "Room with 1 Door that's super EASY to defend for 10 Uplinks" to "Room with 3 Doors that's 10 times harder for no reason". And that crazy jump in difficulty is just not fun to have to deal with, especially when it's completely out of the player's control. Overall stuff like this has been very frustrating not just now, but throughout the entirety of our GTFO experience and it's difficult to cope with to say the last. The community, as far as I know, has simply just accepted bugs, broken mechanics and stupidly unnecessary gameplay elements born from spaghetti code simply because they have no alternative - the game is just no longer being updated or fixed and I find that incredibly sad from my perspective, especially since I really really want to love this game. Also, during the stream people did mention that in their experience the Shadow Giants from the Error Alarm have never woken up any of the Respawn Rooms, but in our playthrough typically it has lined up 2-3 times where they've spawned in those big rooms and alerted all the enemies way before any of us entered the zones. So, just another example of why RNG is a frustrating element in games that take HOURS to retry levels as so much random stuff can happen that you can never always be ready for. Rant over, but oh boy if you've been watching the GTFO streams I do on the weekends do you know about the much bigger rant incoming after some incidents on R5C2... :D ======================= GTFO Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtpdhndd_y5oPNu2ROQKqEDj2y-t7a7Yv Check out "GTFO" on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/493520/GTFO/ Horror Games Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtpdhndd_y5pvPMYkk12Qcf21M2RYkT8e Funny gaming montages: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtpdhndd_y5qxzq8Qlw1g9TYFtIkHCwmh Catch me stream sometimes at: https://www.twitch.tv/cptpainkiller ======================= #gtfo #gaming #funnyclips #funnymoments #multiplayer #multicamera #horror #scary #coop #explore #fyp
