The Pretend Room | Mitchell and Webb

Currently Playing: Pretend Room #22: Things We Don't Love About Restaurant Etiquette | Mitchell and Webb

Robert Webb and David Mitchell go behind the scenes of two sketches, Bad Spy and Confused Teacher, while taking a few characteristically unexpected detours along the way. David reveals the real-life train station confusion that inspired Bad Spy years before the sketch was finally written, and the pair break down why the spy’s frustration is essential to the joke. They also revisit Confused Teacher and discuss a classic comedy setup: characters who completely fail to understand the one thing they’re supposed to understand. Plus, there’s restaurant etiquette, “enjoy,” bon appétit, the pressure of delivering the one line that can derail an entire sketch, and some thoughts on why the films, books, comedy, and music we discover when we’re younger can stick with us so strongly. #BigTalkStudios #MitchellandWebb #PretendRoom #comedypodcast Don't miss a video!
