India's pension system just got more flexible with the latest changes to National Pension System (NPS) withdrawal. The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority has revised the National Pension System exit framework for non-government subscribers. Investors will now have far greater access to their retirement savings as the new regulations have extended the investment age to 85 years and removed the five year lock-in periods, allowing investors to exit after 15 years, rather than having to wait until they turn 60 or retire. Moreover, if an investor's retirement corpus exceeds ₹12 lakh, he/she can now withdraw up to 80 percent as a lump sum. What does the latest NPS withdrawal rules mean for mutual fund investors?
