When a prison ship carrying his former partner’s killer is hijacked, Jet is forced to confront the ghosts of his ISSP days and the truth behind how he lost his arm. It’s a hard-boiled tale of betrayal and closure that shows a much darker side of the Bebop's father figure. Arianna and Maple are feeling the heavy noir vibes and the weight of Jet’s "Black Dog" nickname as he hunts down his past. Then, the mood shifts completely with “Mushroom Samba.” The crew is starving and stranded on Io when Ed and Ein take center stage! After Ed accidentally acquires some "special" mushrooms, the rest of the crew goes on a series of hallucinations that are as hilarious as they are bizarre. Arianna and Maple are losing it over Spike climbing an endless staircase, Faye’s underwater delusions, and Jet’s conversation with his bonsai trees. It’s a legendary episode that proves why Ed (and the soundtrack) are the heart and soul of this show.
