Rarely do I relate to a piece of digital media when it comes to my journey leaving the opera business behind. I retired from the stage for many different reasons, emotional, mental, physical abuse, watching my colleagues suffer, anxiety, depression… the opera industry is brutal and the expectations for perfection are profoundly terrible and painful. There is beauty in it though, of course. But it’s harder to find than it should be.
