SITUATION 7: A reinforced concrete slab 2.4-m square and 225 mm thick is lifted by four cables attached to the corners, as shown in the figure. The cables are attached to a hook at a point 1.50-m above the top of the slab. Each cable has an effective cross-sectional area A = 75 mm2. Use unit weight of concrete 24 kN/m3. 19. Determine the tensile stress in the cables due to the weight to the concrete slab, in MPa. 20. Determine the elongation of a cable if Es = 200,000 MPa. 21.
