In this video I go over what cat 1 and category 2 damage is in Star Trek Online. Cat 2 damage otherwise know at bonus damage give a larger damage boost then cat 1 but is harder to get consoles, traits and gear sets that give this cat 2 boost. Bonus damage can be for a specific type of damage such as phaser, kinetic, disruptor and so on. There are also cat 2 boosts that will give bonus all damage boosts which is great for sic builds.
