Welcome back to another episode of the Pokedex binder series. It's a Friday afternoon and I've decided to set myself a challenge because I've wanted to do this for a little while where I wanted to go to my local card shop with just a £50 budget and see how many upgrades we can make towards the Pokedex binder. Now, I'm super prepared for this because I've been through decks so many times looking at all the different card arts for every single Pokémon and I've put them in a folder. So, I've got all of the artworks I need and I can organize that folder by price from low to high. So, I can focus on the low end and see how many of them we can pick up [music] and make that £50 go as far as possible. >> Bonjour, now. >> So, I did two things. I got immediately set up with their modern hits binder and got myself set up with decks so I could check the cards as I was browsing. This binder had so many beautiful cards in it, but I quickly realized if I want to make this £50 go as far as possible, I need to go down a tier into a slightly cheaper binder, at least at the beginning anyway. Just bear with me throughout this video because I kind of went into this challenge thinking if I could maybe get like 20 cards. I wasn't set on a number, but 20 was kind of like this number that I seemed to have in my head for some reason, but anything in double figures would have been awesome. The £2.99 binder is then where we get stuck in. I found my first card and that was the Toxicroak in its full art and that one is from Scarlet and Violet. And this is actually the card art that I put aside in my folder for Toxicroak. [music] And if you're wondering what I'm doing, for each Pokémon, I can actually tap on the Pokémon's name and then it just shows me the artworks for that one Pokémon and I can scroll through all the artworks just to triple check that there isn't one that I'm missing or one that's slightly better. Now, for Toxicroak, there are two cards, both kind of full art styles and to be fair, for me, they're both on par with one another. So, I picked up the one that I'd already listed. And that binder was done pretty fast. There was nothing else in there. Now, in the next binder, I did manage to find the Annihilape full art. Now, I was super happy to find this one because there is a spread in the Pokédex binder that I'm currently working on and it's something that I'll show you later on in the video. And this one is super easy as well because annihilate only has seven cards in general and this is the only one in that kind of full art style. And I managed to find the next Pokédex entry along on the same page in the Pokédex and that is the full art Paldean Clodsire. It comes in a regular full art or the shiny form. So, for me it was a no-brainer just to pick up the shiny version. And shout out to Dan as well because every time I went back to the till he just kept handing me more and more cards to look through just to see if I could find anything else. I did then also finally pull the trigger on buying the Vikavolt illustration rare. I've seen this so many times but I just haven't had any luck pulling it so now was the perfect time to pick it up. Carbink is another one that's in that kind of category where I see it everywhere but this one I decided to wait on and I'll manage to pick it up at like a card show potentially. And talking about card shows, it felt like I was at one because I was just doing endless binder flicking. It was like I had a mini card show to myself just sat with no time constraint just enjoying the binders. Now, I did try to push my luck just that little bit extra by going down to the 199 binder and was quickly humbled because there was nothing in there that we needed for the Pokédex. Now, I quickly realized like I mentioned earlier that that 20 number that I seem to have in my head is was just not doable at this stage. The cards that they had in stock would kind of push me towards that kind of 10 mark. So, I then decided in my head to kind of change the amount that I needed to look for from that kind of low end like four to [music] eight pound range for the cards. Now, this one, this Cinderace, I've already seen it in here somewhere so I need to pick that up in a second and I think it's this Abomasnow as well. If I check my listing, I think it is in here. There it is. So, I'm going to triple check I've not got it by tapping on Abomasnow. Check out all the other illustrations and it is the one I want for it so we'll grab it. And on the next page is that Cinderace. So, if I take a look at Cinderace, for me it's probably the best artwork that we've got. So, I'm going to pick that one up. Pretty cool as well with the colors. So, we'll put that in the pile. And while I'm just flicking through this binder, look how lovely that Lunala is as well. That looks so sick. I love the GXs. It's a shame I've already got a really decent one cuz I would pick this one up as well. And another card that we need is the Alcremie. I've seen this for months and months and months and never picked it up. It's one of the trainer galleries. I love a trainer gallery. So, that one can go in the pile as well. And as an example, Incineroar. Now, this is one of those scenarios where, unlike the Toxicroak situation, I've tapped on the Pokémon and I can see that there are some artworks, in my opinion, that are competing with it. So, this one sadly didn't find a new home today. But, that's an example of just taking a look through the artworks, see which one fits your binder the most, and then just wait and find that one in the wild. Hopefully, it's on Look at this. Woah, got that. It's heavy. Woah, look at that. Take a look at that Sizzlipede EX as well. That is sick. And the Umbreon GX. Now, of course, SIRs also managed to catch my eye. This one was around about the £9 range, which at the time I was thinking that's too much. But, by the end of this video, I end up picking an SIR that's like twice the price anyway. So, I could have just picked it up at the time, but I was trying to be super objective-focused at this point. Now, there were other cards that I just love the artwork for, but for whatever reason at the time, I just didn't simply pick them up. The Cyclizar illustration rare, very cool card, and for a fiver, it had to go in the pile. And just like at a card show, I always like pointing out like the fun different artworks. Look at this Yveltal. That is sick. Just an interesting style. Is it a Shibūsa? It's not a Shibūsa, but it looks very to it. How cool is that? Another cool artwork is this Lugia. Look how cool that is. Imagine that as a full art. Okay. And then easy pick up we can make is the Meditite because that is the only illustration rare full Meditite. So, I'll put that in the pile. That one's just an easy one. I'm surprised I haven't picked it up sooner. At this point, I actually needed to go ahead and check the pile because I had no idea where we were value wise and we were roughly around about that kind of £35 range. And at this point, I'd actually been through all of the binders twice bar some of the more expensive ones and I quickly realized that there's just nothing else here. So, with the remaining little bit of budget, I was just looking around the shop at all the different cabinets and then some of the more expensive binders just to simply see what I could spend the remainder of the budget on because while we were there, you might as well pick up something beautiful. Okay. So, we've had a look through all of the binders and now I think we've got about £15 left of the budget. So, we're going to have a look through the modern hits now and just see if there's any more that were a little bit more pricey that I didn't really look at and give much attention to earlier. And uh maybe we get something nice to go alongside some of the smaller bits. Overall, I think we've done really well so far. Let's see what last little finds we can make and uh what we can spend the last of our £50 on. Okay. So, one card I might consider getting is the Chansey in Japanese. I need it for the binder anyway as a lovely upgrade and in English it has just gone through the roof. So, that might be an option. I'm going to put that to one side. Another card that I love which would nail the budget is the Keldeo as well for 15. It's beautiful card. Keep that in mind. And there were so many cards that caught my attention. The Vanilluxe illustration rares are beautiful artwork. I need the Goldengo, but that one was slightly more expensive and I didn't honestly want to push my luck too much with Jake and Dan. They're awesome guys. They look after me all the time, but I just didn't really want to push my luck too much. But I didn't need to settle on a card because I did manage to pick up a special illustration rare that I actually really wanted. I always pronounce it wrong, so I apologize, but the Sinistcha. It's a really cool artwork with that kind of sepia look to it. There's like a little bit of green in the background and foreground. It's a very interesting artwork and it's a really cool card that I want to add into the binder. So, at this point, I was just praying that the card guys would give me a deal and we could get it done. Also, I just want to give a shout out to Card Guys for just one, letting me just come into the shop and film, and two, just being really awesome and just helping me with the Pokedex binder. So, shout out to you guys, Jake and Dan. Okay, I'm going to be a bit cheeky. This one is 20. I've got 15 lb left with the pile. Let's see. >> Maybe one. >> [laughter] >> I've got a pile over there. >> Yeah, that's fine. You know what? [laughter] That's fine. Thank you. >> Do you know what? I'm really happy with this little mini challenge. I really enjoyed the video as well. We're going to get them all into the Pokedex. Just before I do, please let me know in the comments down below if you enjoyed the format of this video because I would quite like to do this again. I quite like the budget factor to it. And at this stage of the Pokedex, it's way more efficient for me to do these types of videos and get the hits than buy packs and hope to get hits. Do you know what I mean? So, at this stage, we've got so much progress that we want to do to this. It just makes the most sense and I need you to let me know in the comments down below if you also agree and we can do some more of them and also blend them with the packs as well. So, again, let me know in the comments down below. Let's get them in. So, up first is the Meditite illustration rare with the Chatot in the background as well. I thought I actually had this card, but I don't. So, we will slide out a reverse holo and upgrade it to the illustration rare. That is now the whole line done, which is pretty cool. Next up is then the Toxicroak and we can slide out the reverse holo and pop it in. So, it's like a full art style instead of like an illustration, but until Pokémon show some love to Toxicroak, this will do for now. And if we pan just down to the right-hand side, we can then add in the Is it Trainer Gallery? It is Trainer Gallery. I get it mixed up with Galarian Gallery. We're going to be swapping out yet another reverse holo, and I absolutely love these cards. The shine of the foil as well just looks so good. Let's pop that one in there as well. And again, that is the evolution line done. And slowly but surely some of these pages are coming together with their illustrations and so on. Vikavolt is getting an upgrade from just an uncommon card all the way to the new illustration rare which came out in Ascended Hero. So that's very cool to be getting that in. >> [music] >> It's a lovely card. It's nice and intricate, lots going on in it. Then we get to the Cinderace. Now, I think these cards, I'll be honest with you, at times are a bit underrated. It's It's a really interesting style. I love the kind of white with all the color going on. And by adding this one in we can upgrade Cinderace from a holo up to I mean that's a full art style, isn't it? That's what I was thinking. But the whole evolution line is also done now as well with the Raboot with a beautiful illustration [music] as well. And the latest Scorbunny illustration as well looks absolutely awesome. We carry on then into yet another uh trainer gallery. And I've wanted these cards for ages. I just seem to have kind of missed them for a little while like at card shows. And that means that Alcremie goes from an EX up to the I call it an illustration rare. It's like an early stage illustration rare. But it looks absolutely brilliant. Again, when you've got more cards around it that kind of have that full art card style. We then move towards the back of the binder where we can get out the Cyclizar in its holo and we can add in the illustration rare. Very cool card. And back here we end up with a lot of pages full of like illustration rares and art rares because being the most modern era of Pokémon and the most modern generations, should I say, towards the back they all got that new style with the illustration rares and special illustration rares and so on. So this bottom half needs a little bit more love and attention, but this top half is looking pretty good. We just need to finish it to get some love, and that top half is done. But it is towards the next page where this is an area that I really really want to work on. We've got the Paldean Clodsire and the Annihilape going in. So, they don't have any illustration rares, they only have uh the full art style here with the Annihilape, and then the Paldean Clodsire only has Well, it has a full art, but it also has a full art shiny version like this, so this one will go in. Now, I mentioned this area is somewhere I want to do some work to. If we take a look at these pages, they are absolutely flying. For example, we only need the Great Tusk's special illustration rare here, and the Brute Bonnet illustration rare, and this whole page would be done with every card in the card art it needs to be. >> [music] >> The apart from potentially Sandy Shocks, which is a full art, and I'd probably want to get the SIR for it. So, that's another option. And >> [music] >> even cooler, just beside it, the other page is in a similar situation where we need the Gholdengo and the Gimmighoul, and then this page would be completely done. So, we're kind of working towards a double spread here where all of the cards are coming together for what will be that final version of what the Pokedex will look like. Now, of course, we are not done because we have one more card to add in here. I always mispronounce this, so I do apologize, but is it the Sinistea? That one is going in with the special illustration rare. It's a very very cool card. It's a very pretty card as well, as always with the special illustration rares and their like glittery look to them. And again, another page that's just coming together. Toedscool needs some love, and likewise the Petilil. Likewise, Glimmora. There's a few more on here, but a lot of the cards are looking absolutely [music] brilliant. And this is again, as I've said in other episodes, it's giving me the inspiration and motivation of what this is all going to look like when it's completely done. And it's just looking fantastic when you can blend in special illustration rares alongside other ones as well, and illustration rares, and just beautiful artworks like the Monkey Dory. It's just It's a really wonderful feeling to see it really moving along. So, I hope you enjoyed this video. I thought it was a really cool challenge, and I would love it if you loved it, because I would love to do more of it. So, if you want me to go to a different card shop, I've got a few locally that I can still do, and maybe we make like a mini series out of it. But, at this stage of the Pokédex, it would make so much more sense for me to go to these card shops, buy the cards I actually want, than opening packs. And we can make so much more progress, like 10 new additions, well, upgrades. I keep saying new addition to the Pokédex. >> [music] >> It's flying. It's looking fantastic. So, again, I hope you liked it. Drop a like, drop a comment. Shout out to all my members of the channel. You're awesome, and on screen right now, >> [music] >> and I'll see you in the next one.
