of their football here in upstate New York as you get a look inside Rocket Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park. And tonight we've got a good AFC matchup on tap as it'll be the Baltimore Ravens taking on the Buffalo Bills. >> [cheering] >> And able to get this out to the 25. Here's the former Heisman winner, it's Derrick Henry. And he'll power his way forward for about 4 yards there on the first down carry. Brandon 5 yards on that run. Let's get back to the huddle and make sure your back. He's been down with your offensive line and give them credit. Hard to move those 300-plus pounders at the line of scrimmage and they did for a significant chunk of yardage. >> [cheering] >> Now an option play on second down. He has enough for the first down on the keeper, a gain of six. Well, he is certainly dangerous when he spots a lane and he keeps it himself there and worked out well. How about the moving parts on a play like this? You know you have to practice it over and over because it's almost like a ballet that has to be choreographed. But how about once he made the decision to go, he committed to it and went. Let's face it, most teams are going to defend the running back much more than the quarterback on that type of a play. And trying to push forward but he is going to be stopped up in the backfield. Gregory Rousseau works his way in for the stop and the loss. With his size, he's a tough man to bring down but they do a nice job there stopping his progress and not allowing him to get back to the line of scrimmage. So a 5-yard run the other way in the wrong direction and that leads us to second and 15. A short throw caught by Andrews and he's out of bounds able to take this one up to the 35. They'll give him 4 yards there and that'll bring up a third and 11 situation. That was an okay hookup there with his tight end but unfortunately, they didn't get the kind of yards they had hoped for. That's going to bring up third down. Jackson Now he'll tuck this and run. And he'll be taken down but not before he gets into enemy territory. Lamar Jackson such a threat with those legs able to improvise and get the first. He's a talented runner and that means he's always looking for bigger and bigger gains when he takes off. Certainly found some bonus yards there beyond the first down marker and this early drive will continue with that extra jolt from his legs. >> [cheering] >> Here's Jackson to throw. Throw right side going to be taken in by Henry and he is tackled inside the 40, not quite to the 35. Back-to-back nice plays, 12 yards that time and a first down. I like it, I like it, I like it. Get everyone involved in the passing game and you know you can create those great mismatches throwing it to your guys out of the backfield. >> And on the first drive that can also help establish some rhythm, right? I think so and gets everyone involved. They feel like they're part of it and it really gets them amped up as they go forward. Looking for a seam but finding none. He'll get back to the line of scrimmage and that's zero. Tyrel Bur gaurd is in on the tackle. It's rare that a man his size can at least push forward for a yard but they stopped him there for nothing. You talking about tiny? You talking about the little guy back there? That monster, yeah you're exactly right and it takes a group effort to get a guy like that down and not let him find some space. The first guy in, he's got to take one for the team, right? Because he's just waiting there and holding on for everyone else to help him out. That's a really nice job by them picking up the run blitz and detecting it and blocking it and turning it into a nice run. And a lot of times you think if you blitz a running play, you're going to smother it but a lot of the blitzers, they come in a little bit high. They don't have great leverage and they're easily blocked and turned to the side. And he will have a Ravens first down at least at first glance as he'll spot the football just beyond the marker. They find a way to convert on third and inches. It's been a good drive so far. They just wanted to keep it going so they call low risk, low reward play. No one's worried about picking up big yardage here. Quarterback sneak, keep the chains moving and pick up another first down. They get him to the ground right on the cusp of the red zone after a pickup of five or six. They've created a nice sustained drive off of plays like that, a nice strong run there. It keeps them advancing the ball. From the 20, here's second down and five. >> [cheering] >> And Bateman and he'll go in motion right here. Now Jackson taps this forward jet sweep. And he'll be out of bounds about a half to a full yard shy of the five. Sets him up nicely, first and goal. It was a pickup of 14. What an effective play there getting their wideouts involved in the run game. And what they're always hoping on that type of a play, that they can get to the end of the line and have a chance to turn it upfield as he did there. That means they controlled the blocking and took care of the defensive end or the outside linebacker to give him that lane. And I guess I need to clarify. I said getting their wideouts involved in the run game but of course that was actually a pass as he popped it forward. A lot can go wrong when you call play like this down in the red zone but that's where you appreciate this from your head coach. He's not afraid to trust his guys to do the right thing and as a player, that means an awful lot. Henry Touchdown Baltimore! Uh first quarter, maybe too early to talk about statement drives, Charles, but that sure seemed like a statement drive right there. Well, if we're going to talk about statement drives, I think what they're saying is we're going to establish the run. They gave it to him early and often on this drive and he wound up taking it into the end zone. >> [cheering] >> Point after right down the middle. And that makes the score seven nothing. >> [cheering] >> Now after the touchdown, Loup back out to kick this one away. A nifty move. And a decent return out to the 27-yard line. Allen and the Bills now with a first and 10 at their own 27. Now a first carry for the brother of Dalvin, it's James Cook. That's a good way to start the drive, 17 yards and a first down. Well, CD a lot of times like to separate speed and quickness and they've got a back that's both. We know that he's fast in the open field but man, his first step is so quick, too. It is something, isn't it? Because you think of that type of speed getting to the perimeter and turning upfield but also when you run those inside runs, he can get into the secondary so fast the linebackers don't have a chance to react. Sheds off the tackle and he'll be out of bounds just shy of the 40. A good gain again. That's now 31 yards combined on those last two plays. And this was a nice example of an offensive coordinator scheming his guy open. Just a little underneath route, just trying to free up some space and it worked awfully well. Got him not just space but plenty of room to run after the catch to pick up really nice yardage. Passes [cheering] man, it's Shakir. And he gets this one inside the 15, just a yard or two shy of the 10. Running their plays over and over during the week and often get robotic for an offense but on game day they can often flow smoothly as that one just did. So how about this for field position after the big play? Inside the 15 now as they come up on first and 10. Throwing middle but it's incomplete. Great coverage there all around. Really didn't have many options to throw the football. Very little chance that that one was going to be completed. Every receiver was locked up. So after the incompletion on first, now second and 10. >> [cheering] >> Moore, the man in motion. >> [cheering] >> Allen to throw once more and this is going to be intercepted. Picked off by Malakai Starrs and the Ravens are going to take possession here. It's a touchback and they'll take over at the 20-yard line. And they'll begin by running the option and maybe the wrong read there as he's going to go down immediately. A loss of a full 3 yards and now it's second down. Well, sometimes that option can get bogged down before the gears really even get into motion and I think that's what we saw there. And I think what he saw, he saw defensive end right in his face because he looked up and he was right there. Didn't even have a chance to get going. He's going to flip that out to the flat. It's complete. No gain on the play. And it'll be a third and about 13. That's a nice job defensively to make sure everyone was accounted for because ordinarily, you pick up the guys downfield and sometimes you forget about the running back. In this case, they did not and dropped him for no gain. Now on third and long they'll look to throw. He's got a man, complete. And he finally goes down, but not before reaching the 21. It's a big play there for Baltimore. 62 yards. Let's just call it as we just saw it right there, a breakdown defensively. Seems like no one went with the tight end. And no one really did. Had all sorts of space in the middle of the field. >> Yeah, everyone else was covered, but he was not. Big play results. And they've got it inside the 10 at the eight. 13 yards as they've got the connection working. His second catch in a row, first down. How about the way they're moving the ball down the field? They had a big play a moment ago, followed it up with another nice one here, and before you know it, they're already looking at first and goal. >> [cheering] >> They'll try to run for it with Henry. Trying to keep those big legs churning, but he's going to go down in the backfield. That's going to wind up a loss of a full 3 yards on first down. An interesting and intriguing decision there defensively because they kept extra DBs on the field despite seeing the multiple tight end look that came out for the offense. >> I thought they were going to switch out of it. I didn't know if they felt they didn't have time or what the case was. >> Well, in any event, the extra speed allowed for great penetration. And he is into the end zone for a Baltimore touchdown. Lamar Jackson, A 10-YARD TOUCHDOWN RUN. And the Ravens lead this now 13-nothing here in the opening quarter of the ballgame. Now this defense, so many things to worry about in the red zone area, but you'd have to almost think that Lamar Jackson running the football, that might be number one. It should be number one. And in this portion of the field where things shrink a little bit because the receivers can't run past anyone cuz they'll run out of real estate, you should have all eyes on Lamar Jackson when the ball is snapped and try and keep him back in the pocket. >> Yeah, I don't think that they were surprised he was running it there. They just couldn't stop him, and he ends up in the end zone. Gets past one man. And a good return as he'll be stopped just shy of the 30-yard line. The Bills come to the line to start their next drive. And they're in an early hole. Their first drive, they threw the interception, that led to a touchdown. So, a decent-sized deficit early on. It is, but I think you hit the key words, early on. So, they have to decide, do we even need to change game plan, or do we just need to execute better and try and get back in this game? Good, strong, explosive run that started inside, which means you've got to control those defensive linemen, the defensive tackles, the nose guards. Those guys have to be controlled. How about the offensive line, the job they just did? >> Yeah, key that A gap usually on those runs, right? >> That's where it all starts because everyone wants to come and control that area. It disrupts things from the defensive side and the offensive side. As we just saw, it opens up possibilities. 46 yards rushing for him now to this point. Well, you're down early, how do you get back in the game? Maybe establish the run. I think they're trying to do that. >> Now, I'm with you on that one, and what I like about the message is that there's no panic from the head coach. He's already told his offensive coordinator, let's run the football, let's get things settled down a little bit and find our way back into this game. And that'll be incomplete. Took a pretty good shot as he tried to pull that one in. Couldn't hang on, third down. That's an excellent play by the defender. He diagnosed that one, closed quickly, and up forced the incompletion. Trying to get one more in here before the quarter breaks. Now Allen. Working the middle of the field, and he's got a man, complete. And he's going to be taken down with a first down at the Ravens 20-yard line. 14-nothing the score. This is the NFL on EA Sports. Second quarter now in Buffalo. It's the Bills in control of the football. As they've got it with a first and 10. First down, here's the run with Cook. Give him a couple on the carry there, second and eight. Probably down steps to put this offense in a precarious position. We know that securing the point of attack, especially against the big-bodied guys in the middle of this D, is got to be priority one. Second down and eight. >> [cheering] >> Here's Allen to throw it. And they will not get the connection there, it's incomplete. Some of the fans here don't seem too happy about what we've seen in this first half. >> No, not at all, and I understand why. They've looked lethargic, out of sync, and it shows on the scoreboard. Seventh play of the drive forthcoming on third and eight. Motion man is Shakir. >> [cheering] >> Throwing now is Allen. He'll try and do that, and he's going to lose a yard or two, taken down behind the line. Credit that sack to Travis Jones. So, this defense, they gave up some yards on this drive, but bottom line, they came up with a sack when it mattered. And we know that every down counts, but let's be honest about it. People focus on third down as a real key down in any drive, any situation, and they took full advantage of third down there and made a play. The kick by Bass is good. And they will get themselves on the board here at 14-3. So, no problems at all on that one. And And you know, there's virtually no wind. This is a kicker's dream here tonight. >> It absolutely is, isn't it? So, to me, with no wind, it should be a passer's dream as well, right? But in this case, defense held out, and forced the field goal. And they'll get him down inside the 30 at the 27. The Baltimore offense at the line set to get going. And right now they're saying, "Hey, let's keep this going. Two drives, two touchdowns." >> Yeah, can't ask for a better start than that, can you? I mean, this is the way you practice it, this is the way you rehearse it. But right now, the play calling, they're locked in really well. First play of the drive going for 14 and a first down. Good, strong throw and catch right there. And so far in this game, the alleys have been open for them to get completions, and they're taking advantage of it. Now Jackson. Now, a quick throw there, but it's going to be incomplete. Defensively, celebration time because they finally forced just an incompletion. He was perfect throwing the ball to that point. >> Yeah, but from his viewpoint, they didn't force the incompletion, he just missed. That's how hot he is right now, and that's how he wants to continue to throw the ball. Second and 10. >> [cheering] >> To throw is Jackson. And a quick throw there is incomplete. A lot of times it's that first read that you have. Maybe you get it in pre-snap. He locked in on his target, but he was covered quite well, and that one's incomplete. The offense on third down today, a perfect three for three as they look to keep that streak going. This is third and 10. >> [cheering] >> Slings it to Andrews, and it's complete. The tight end has it. And he will have a Ravens first down as they're able to get the third down conversion. We often hear the phrase sure-handed tight ends, and he certainly fits into that category. Plus, he's got a quarterback who knows to look his way when they need a big pickup. And on this play, he finds him for the first down. A first down carry for Henry. And down inside the 40 to about the 38. Give him nine on the carry that time, and they're set up with a second and one. Good yardage there on first down, exactly what you want. Get yourself set up to keep making first downs, keep the clock running. And if they're smart, you're starting to milk the clock. No hurry before you run your second down play. >> [cheering] >> Henry again on second down. And here he'll be brought down a little shy of the 35 at the 36. Two yards on the pickup, and that's all they needed to move the sticks. Second and one, and people want to run the football. This is where every back in the league is supposed to do exactly what we just saw there, pick up the first down. So, from the 36 now, first and 10. They'll run straight ahead with Hill. And a nice spin into some open field. And he gets this one inside the 15, just a yard or two shy of the 10. 41 yards rushing for him now on just his first three carries. This has been a good drive so far. It's been the running game for the most part that's powered them down there. Another nice burst there, picking up a first down. Now it's first and 10, as you said, in the red zone. The tight end in motion right. Now the play clock hits zero here, and we're going to get a delay. Now they need 15 yards on this series after the delay of game, first and 15. And now Jackson will look to throw it. They set up the screen to Hill. And the stop will come inside the five at the four. That's a gain of 11, would have been a first down if not for that penalty moments ago. When you run a screen pass really well, you got to like the look of it because so many parts come together to make it work well. The offensive lineman were there faking people out, the back slipping out there catching the football, then all them going together as one unit down field, a really nice pick up. >> [cheering] >> Here's Jackson. And that one going to come up short, low throw. You've always been very good about checking my math. Am I correct that's the first time that it's been incomplete when they've thrown it to him? >> Yes, he had caught every other ball that came in his way. So, they feel like they've got something really good going there and they're going to continue to go there until the defense makes an adjustment, takes it away. >> Well, they finally made an adjustment there. We'll see if they can build on that stop. Throwing is Jackson. This is caught. And he'll be taken down, but he does have first down yardage. They're able to convert with a gain of four. Well, you have to be aware defensively that you've got two goals because obviously, you're trying to prevent the touchdown, but you're also trying to keep them from getting a first down as well. That time they weren't up to the task and it's first and goal. >> [cheering] >> And no signal yet. I don't think he got in. He didn't. They'll mark him at the one. It's a loss of a yard there and now second down. Kept it in his hands and tried to push it across the goal line himself, but the defensive front wouldn't allow him to do so, bringing up second down and a bit farther. >> [cheering] >> Trying to punch it in with Henry. And he tries to power forward, but he will not get back to the line of scrimmage. That'll be a loss of a yard and it leads to a third down. Not only was that a terrific play, but that loss of yardage they created this close to their own goal line, that gives them a little breathing room now as they move them back. >> And they're breathing fire a little bit right now, aren't they? >> A lot of confidence being shown by them at this point of the game. >> [cheering] >> And he's got it. And he'll be brought down right on the edge of the goal line at about the one yard line. Able to hold them to just two yards and now it's fourth and goal. Well, it wasn't a big strike, but that completion put them in really great range. What do we have now? Fourth and inches? >> Yeah, it's not more than a half a foot. You know what I would do here. You would always go for it. I'm one of those guys. >> [cheering] >> They'll run, it's Henry. And he'll take it into the end zone for a Ravens touchdown. Derrick Henry with his second touchdown here in this first half. And the Ravens take the chance on fourth and goal and it pays off with six. On his loop for the extra point. And it's 21 to three. >> [cheering and screaming] >> Now after the touchdown, Loop back out to kick this one away. >> [cheering] >> A dangerous return man showing it here. >> [cheering] >> And finally, he's out of bounds, but not before a great return. He's all the way inside the 30. To the air, Allen. Now he's going to step up and run. And down inside the 15 he goes. A nice job there on the escape and scramble, a first down, a 16 yard gain. That's the first time he's called his own number, but he's got to be overjoyed with the result. He wasn't just going to settle for a modest gain. To me, he was determined to come through with a big message to a defense that slept on him in the pocket. And they'll send the slot in motion left. Snap comes at one and it's Allen. And that one is going to be off target and incomplete. Now a second and 10. Allen going to throw. The quick slant caught. And he'll take it into the end zone for a Buffalo touchdown. Khalil Shakir, a 12 yard touchdown grab. And the Bills are able to make some inroads here to that deficit. The catch and the touchdown, they were the end result of a terrific route run by the receiver. Extra point by Bass up and good. And it makes the score 21 to 10. After the touchdown, Bass to kick it away. >> [cheering] >> And he'll take it up past the 25 to the 26 yard line. The Raven offense set at the line for this next drive. Right now, everything they touch turns to gold. This is their fourth possession, touchdowns on their first three possessions. I mean, this defense, they can't seem to stop them. It's like they're on skates. Great analogy, Brandon, because they are pushing them back and winning everything at the line of scrimmage. They've just been laying down tracks towards the opposite end zone. So, to themselves, all they're saying is, if we don't make a mistake, there's no way they can stop us. >> [cheering] >> 10th carry now for Derrick Henry and not much to speak of, only a one yard gain up to the 26. Just not a whole lot of room to operate there on that carry. No, not at all. They did a really nice job staying in their proper places and not allowing any lanes to open up. The Ravens on third down, they have been superb, five for six to this point. This is third and 10. Now it's Jackson. And the Bills are going to get him as he goes down. And the defense coming through on third down, a loss of seven to bring up fourth. And this is a quarterback who's already had success on the ground in this first half, but this time, they're able to hem him in. And it's always different when you rush a mobile quarterback as opposed to a guy you know will be right back in the pocket. In this case, you got to make sure the inside pressure and the outside pressure match and maybe even a second wave to make sure if he squirts free, you've got someone to tackle him. Buffalo offense ready to go for their next drive. A strong showing their last time out, they scored the touchdown, but Charles, they look up and they're still down double digits. So, you feel like just to keep pace, this drive probably needs to end in the end zone as well. Yeah, I think the best move for them is to not worry about how far they are down on the scoreboard, but to just remember the last drive and how it ended. Go ahead and try and repeat that. Then you can look at the scoreboard and see where this game is. From the 46 yard line, a second down and six. To throw, it's [cheering] Allen. A little pitch and catch to the tight end, Knox. Give him a gain of five on the completion and now one yard to go on third down. How about the timing on that one? Boy, they were in sync, weren't they? Three step drop, ball's out of his hands right to the tight end. Nice completion, just like they do it in practice. Motion man is Shakir. Now this time, Allen will throw. Able to find the open man, that's complete. And he is going to have a Bills first down as they're able to convert by plenty there on third and one. Got to say I was a little surprised to see him, Charles, come out in the shotgun on third and less than a yard. >> Yeah, but the way the NFL is nowadays, we hardly ever see anyone really run for it on short yardage. So, they're going to throw the football more times than not. That was a nice easy rhythm throw right there and they picked up the first down. And he's going to get this one down to the edge of the red zone. 23 yards on the play. And maybe that touchdown on the previous drive has re-energized this offense a little bit. They've been kind of sluggish until then, but they're showing signs of life here and they get good yardage that time and a first down. And again, it's Allen. >> [cheering] >> Throwing quickly there, but it's incomplete. Brings up second and 10 at the 20 yard line. After the incompletion, here's second and 10 from the 20. >> [cheering] >> Here's Allen. Oh, he'll want that one back, incomplete. He doesn't drop too many in that department, third down. Feels like they're getting caught in between here because they didn't completions on first and second down. Now you got to worry a little bit about the clock because you prefer not to give them another shot here in the first half, but if you don't pick up the first down, guess what? You're likely going to have to. >> [cheering] >> Now Allen setting up the screen for Cook. And he'll be taken down at the 2-yard line. Now the Bills are going to use the first of their timeouts as they'll stop it with just over 40 seconds to go in the first half. First and goal and they got to be thinking a chance to get right back into this football game. Cook is not going anywhere. He'll be hit and dropped for no gain at the 2-yard line. Now the Bills will use the second of their timeouts as they'll stop it with 40 seconds remaining in this first half. >> [screaming] >> From the two now, second and goal. >> [cheering] >> Cook is not going to get back to the line of scrimmage as they'll tackle him at the three. It'll go as a loss of a yard and it'll set up third down. Sometimes you just sit back and marvel at what he can do defensively. Speed, strength, quickness, he's the whole package and that package just wrapped up the runner for a loss. >> [cheering] >> Allen now on third and goal. And this is caught for a Bills touchdown. DJ Moore as the first half is winding down and the Bills are able to cut into this lead in the final seconds of the first half. So the late touchdown there and that certainly changes things as we move toward halftime. Yeah, and there's a potential for things to change even more because remember, they get the ball first to start the third quarter. So they can potentially double up here and take the lead. A great opportunity for them. So not much time to speak of remaining in this first half as the kick's away. >> [cheering] >> And they'll let that one go as it skips through the back of the end zone for a touchback. The Baltimore offense at the line set to get going. And with time quickly fading here in the second quarter, not sure how aggressively offensively they want to play this. I think we'll find out just how much they trust their guys in this situation if they decide to take a shot. Now a timeout signaled for and they'll get it with 10 seconds to go before halftime. >> [cheering] [cheering] >> Now a second and two. >> [cheering] >> Play action. Now Jackson. It's incomplete. Took a shot, couldn't connect. Oh boy, partner, did that just happen? I've got my hand over my eyes right now because like like him is going to haunt my dreams, too. He was wide open. How did he overthrow him there? >> Uh defensively just very lucky. You know that they got away with one there. >> [cheering] >> Now it's Jackson. He's going to take a shot at the end zone. Why not? And it's knocked away and incomplete. First half in the books. You're watching the NFL on EA Sports. It's been a shootout so far. We'll see which defense can make the adjustments as we get back underway in the second half. And he won't quite make it to the 25. The Bills come to the line to start their next drive. Well Charles, in that first half we saw a fair amount of offense on both sides of the football and now the team trailing here will start with it in the third quarter. And we both know this coach pretty darn well, don't we? Because [cheering] his game planning is always on point. And now they're getting the ball to start the second half. How about all the offense that you already referenced in the first half? He'll put that all together and come out with something really strong, I believe, to get things going here in the third quarter. Second and nine. Allen on the RPO, he'll keep it himself. And he's got room. And they get him down but not before he takes it across the 40-yard line. Josh Allen, very athletic at 6'5", showing the versatility, picking up the first on the scramble. Fast, slow, it doesn't matter. If you give a quarterback enough room to escape, he can hit you for a big gain. You've got to give him a little more focus moving forward. So they fake the handoff. Now Allen. And that'll be knocked away. It's incomplete. I like the calmness of how he played the ball here. No panic in his eyes as that throw arrived. Tracked it from the moment it left the quarterback's hand and that's just where he needed to be to knock it away. Here's second and 10. Allen now looks to throw. Well, a quick throw there but it's going to be incomplete. Not sure what happened out there but looked like the timing was a little off on that throw. Well, you know I'm a defender, so what am I going to say? Great defense. >> You're darn right. They did something to disrupt that timing. Now they face a third and 10 after back-to-back incompletions. >> [cheering] >> Back to throw. Allen looking left side and he's got a man. That's Moore. And he'll be taken down but not before he works it past the 50. So they'll of course decline the pass interference there and wisely take the yardage. And I think defensively he's saying I was getting away with that in the first half. Why are you making that call now? But to me, that one was pretty easy to see. I don't understand what he's upset about. I think it was the correct call. And there we saw one of the downsides of blitzing during a run down because sometimes you get out of your gaps. You don't fit the run quite as well because you're headed towards the ball carrier with abandon. From the 43, here's a second and five. Here's Cook again. And oh, he coughed it up and the RAVENS HAVE GOT IT. Baltimore with good starting field position as they come up first and 10 at their 38. They'll start on the ground. It's Derrick Henry. And he's going to be met at the line of scrimmage and taken down. Just a yard on the pickup there and it'll bring up a second and nine. In the first half, he was held in check on the ground but despite that lack of production, they still have the lead. >> Yeah, and they've got to feel fortunate about that. If they can actually get production from their lead horse, that would help open up this offense and widen this margin, too. Jackson now. And that is incomplete. A lot of force bearing down on him there. He could not hang on. It's third down. He did an okay job of absorbing the hit, just couldn't secure the football through the catch. And he's right there on the spot and forced the incompletion. That's something defenders work on all the time. If you're there, make the contact but continue to work your way through the receiver so that he can't possess the football and turn it into a catch. And that is too far out in [cheering] front. He couldn't haul it in. Incomplete. So it doesn't look like they're going to be able to build off the turnover. Well, the defense certainly did its part. It got them the football, but you're exactly right. It looks like they're going to punt this one away. And it's not a turnover, but doesn't it feel like one after grabbing the momentum with the defensive play? >> Yeah, and they had all that momentum after getting the football and now it's right back in the other direction. Returning it is Moore. 42 yards on the punt, just two on the return. And the Bills will take over the football with a first and 10. Buffalo offense ready to go for their next drive. Here's Cook as they begin on the ground. And they'll get eight out of this before being stopped at the 28. And remember, this is a running back that fumbled on the previous drive, but fortunately for them, nothing came of it. But I think when that happens, sometimes coaches can lean a little more on forgive and forget. So he's right back out there and running again. Line of scrimmage the 28 now as they come up on second and a couple. A 10th carry in the game for Cook. And he's stopped immediately there. He winds up giving a yard back there and now it's third and two. Well partner, I guess sometimes it's a matter of philosophy. Some say run until they absolutely stop you and others say, "Well, when you think they're about to stop you, fool them a little bit." I guess they should have tried to fool them on that play. They'll go to the air here on third and two. Slant route going to be caught by Palmer. And he is going to have a Bills first down as they're able to get the third down conversion. This has to go down as one of the simpler routes in the playbook, but oh so effective. Nice completion there. Keeps the sticks moving. So from the 39 now, they'll come up on a first and 10. On play action, Allen. And nowhere to fit that football in. It's knocked away and incomplete. As a defensive back, you have some weapons at your disposal that we don't often talk about, and you can read the receiver's eyes, you can read his hands, and you know that the arrival of the ball is imminent, and that allows you to make a play on it, and often times knock it away. Now, Allen. A quick throw there is incomplete. Nowadays, quarterbacks don't mind throwing into coverage because of the confidence they have in their receivers to come down with the ball. But, sometimes you have to be careful you don't get too confident and throw an interception. So, back-to-back incompletions, and that has him staring at a third and 10. Here's Allen to throw it. And that is incomplete. I think it's safe to say he's made some questionable decisions out there so far. Forcing throws into tight coverage, he's already been picked off in this game. Fourth down now, but he's fortunate on that one not to have another turnover on his ledger. Well, Bills send the punter out as he's on to punt for the first time tonight. >> [cheering] >> And that one hits at the seven, but bounces into the end zone, and that'll be a touchback. The Raven offense set at the line for this next drive. And our game's hit a little bit of a lull here, a little bit of a snag. Punts on back-to-back drives. And old school coaches don't necessarily mind that. Didn't turn it over, right? Didn't create a big play for the other team. Right now, what you're looking for is can you gain an advantage in field position? And that's what both teams are seeking right now. >> Yeah, they'll be seeking to gain that advantage here on this drive. >> [cheering] >> Jackson. And this throw is incomplete. And the defender all over him that time, and it's going to lead to third down. And partner, to me, that one was all about timing. If he's there too early, it's going to be a pass interference call. If he's too late, it's a completed pass. He was Johnny-on-the-spot on that one. After an incomplete pass on second down, that'll leave him trying to convert on third and nine. Now, Jackson. >> [cheering] >> And it's a short one here, complete to the tight end. And he will have a Ravens first down as they're able to get the third down conversion. Whenever we talk about moving the sticks and controlling the football, there's a great example right there. Those are the third downs you need to convert to win football games. We're in the third quarter of this one, and this is a tight one. In order to maintain pace, keep the ball away from the other team, and put points on the board, those are the plays they need to continue to convert. And it's a short one here, complete to his tight end. And just 3 yards on the catch there, he couldn't get away. >> [cheering] >> And it's second down. They gave up the completion there, but this is what zone defenses count on. Catching the ball and not much run after the catch. Second and seven. From the gun, it's Jackson. >> [cheering] >> A short throw caught by Andrews, and he'll go out of bounds, it looks like, right at the 40. The result, only 4 yards there on the play, and now it's third and three. Well, they're unable to convert that into much, but it's never a bad idea to try to get the ball into a tight end of his caliber's hands and see what kind of disruption he can cause. >> [cheering] >> Jackson will throw again. >> [cheering] >> And it is caught, and he's got a first down as the tackle made at the Bills 39. Nice third down conversion, and even 20 yards. Charles, to move the chains that time, they had to complete it into double coverage, and they got it done. And it's never easy overcoming multiple defenders, but he sure made it look simple. Found the right spot to exploit and won his one-on-two matchup. Well, they run the option here on first and 10. Jackson handed it and he lost the football. And the Bills have recovered. Allen and the Bills now with a first and 10 at their own 21. >> [cheering] >> Following the fumble recovery, Allen, and he'll be upended here after a pickup of three, getting it out to the 25. Got to give credit where it's due. Really nice defense on that play. The pitch and catch was successful, but not any run after it. >> [cheering] >> From the 25, here's second and six. Working out of the shotgun, here's Allen. And his throw is incomplete. Josh Palmer, the intended target, but now it's third down. >> [cheering] >> They are in need of 6 yards here if they hope to move the chains. >> [cheering] >> Allen from the gun on third down. He's got his target, that's complete. And he is going to have a Bills first down as they're able to get the third down conversion. Allen to throw once more. Has his man, it's Shakir. And he's able to get this one out closer to midfield, across the 45. Short completion, just 4 yards, and that will bring up second down. Inside 4 minutes to go, third quarter. Cook up the gut. And he's down right around midfield after a gain of two, maybe three. Well, that's not a run that's going to make any of the highlight tapes, but they've been moving it well all game on the ground. It's another one that keeps them moving forward. Third and three. From midfield, here's Allen. And he will not be able to hang on through the contact, it's incomplete. The coverage strong, and now it's fourth down. As this old brain remembers, when I see five wide receivers on the field as a defender, I know the ball's coming out hot. They expected it and got there and popped it free. Sean McDermott didn't hesitate, they'll go for it on fourth. Allen going to go on fourth down. Into double coverage, and it's intercepted. Kyle Hamilton picks it, and the Ravens will have the football as this is taken up past the 30. They begin with Henry, and it's been like this all night long. Nowhere to run as they stop him behind the line. They'll lose a yard there, and it's second and 11. He continues to struggle to find a crease to break off a big one, and might need to just put that aside and just try and ram his way forward and get what he can. A loss of a yard there to start out, that leads to a second and 11. Here's Jackson to throw. This will go to Henry out wide. That'll go for a gain of seven, and it brings up third and five now. >> [cheering] >> They'll need five on this play to move the sticks. >> [cheering] >> Jackson from the shotgun. And he'll find the open man, that's complete. And he will have a Ravens first down as they're able to get the third down conversion. And Brandon, from our time in college football, where receivers weren't running the traditional NFL route tree, one thing they did learn, find open areas, find soft spots, and set up and catch the ball. And I think we just saw that there. >> Yeah, we saw that indeed, picking up the first. And they'll let the quarterback keep it here on first and 10, and he's down right around midfield after a gain of two, maybe three. Any time you decide to use your quarterback as a runner, most of the time when you design a play, you're expected to break a little bit bigger than this one, because when you run him on short gains, your risk-reward and him taking hits, I'm not sure that's the payoff they were looking for. >> [cheering] >> From midfield now, here's Jackson. Henry's got it out on the left side. And they'll get this to the 30-yard line before crossing over out of bounds. That one, a gain of 20 and a first down. We can talk all we want about football being a game of strength and brawl. It's also a game of mismatches and they're trying to create one there getting it to their back out of the backfield to make a bigger play. >> As we often say get it to him in space and let him use his leg. Yeah, if he can get a match up against a linebacker maybe a defensive end dropping out in a zone blitz, he's going to win that battle just about every time. Back now in Buffalo. It's the Ravens in control of the football. They've also got the lead as we get set for the fourth. >> [cheering] >> Jackson throw caught by Flowers. That'll be a pick up of four as they work with this four-point fourth-quarter lead. I do have to admit I like it when it all comes together. When the top part catching the football right, whether you're catching it with your hands or cradling it, comes together with the legs in this case the feet doing a little toe tap to stay in bounds and complete the catch. >> And a great job by our crew on the camera shot. Love when you see the grass or on the field turf those rubber pellets flying up. Great catch. They'll wind up getting just a yard out of it and it brings up third and five now. >> [cheering] >> Throwing is Jackson. They'll try and do this himself. The quick and he is into the end zone for a Baltimore touchdown. Lamar Jackson, his second touchdown of the night and the Ravens are able to build on to their fourth quarter lead. So the lanes continue to be there for Lamar Jackson to run that football and that his second touchdown run of the game. You know what I would like? I'd like for us to be able to go into a defenses room after playing Lamar Jackson and watch the tape and see how much of a lane was really there and how much he created just through his talents. In any event, Lamar Jackson finds the end zone, doesn't he? He always seems to but that's a good point. We sometimes put blame on the defense. Maybe we just need to praise Lamar Jackson a little bit more. And up to about the 26-yard line just across the 25. The Bills come to the line to start their next drive. Well that last touchdown we just saw was an important one. Now it's back to a two-score deficit for this crew as they take the field here and they are in desperate need of finding the end zone. Just a yard on the first down carry so it's second and nine. Defenses always talk about earning the right to rush the passer on third down and you know what offenses want? Win first down so they can set things up for themselves better. >> And that wasn't helpful there. Not a big impact on first down. A short throw pulled in by Kumerow. 10 yards good enough for a Buffalo first down. You cannot write these guys off just yet. Not with a quarterback like that under center. You mean it actually crossed your mind with him running the team that you could actually maybe write this game off? Not yet. >> Not a chance. Not with him. We've seen it too many times. >> [cheering] >> And a good swarm to the football defensively as they get him down at about the 40. Give him three on the keeper there and it is second down. Well praise has to go to the guys on the offensive line because they've had a very nice productive day running the football. How about that poor defensive line? They've been knocked around the entire game and while they slowed him down on that run, can they continue to do so because they haven't had much success throughout this ball game. And his throw here is incomplete. I'm not even sure I know who this guy is out there playing right now. This is very unlike him. One of the most accurate guys in the league totally off his game right now. >> I don't know. I was going to ask you what you pin it on but defensively they've been pretty solid. >> Well sometimes you know those defenders they get into the receivers pretty well and if they chip away at their timing, it's going to affect what you're doing throwing the ball as well. To throw is Allen. Ah, he had a man open but he missed him and it's incomplete. The Bills send the punter out as he'll kick it away for the second time. And that hits at the six and carries into the end zone for a touchback. The Baltimore offense at the line set to get going. Play action. It's Jackson. And he's looking for his tight end Mark Andrews there and now it's second down. >> [cheering] [cheering] >> Jackson options out left. And he's able to plow forward up to about the 29 just shy of the 30. He'll get nine yards on the keeper there but it's still going to leave him with a third and one. Oh man, that wasn't far from breaking in a big way into the secondary. Read option, quarterback kept it and while he didn't get a first down, he did get a nice chunk of yardage. Only a nice tackle prevented it from maybe going all the way. >> [cheering] >> They'll try to run for the first with Handley. And he gets this one just shy of the 40 down at the 39. 10 yards there good enough for a Raven first down. I got to tell you when a defense just simply can't get off the field on third down. We all know how important that down is for both sides of the ball. You often feel like you're just a step behind whatever they're doing offensively. >> And one of the differences in this game no doubt. Third down conversion and that is going to be a story they'll talk about after this one. They'll go with Hill here on first down and slow going there as he'll only get a yard maybe up to the 41. That's it. That's what you want. Straight ahead positive gain. Just keep that clock ticking. >> [cheering] >> From the 41 here's a second and eight. >> [cheering] >> Jackson going to keep it running right. And he'll get this up past the 45 to the 47. It's going to be a gain of six on the keeper but it leads to a third down. But that's what he can do when he keeps the football. It's not a huge gain but it shows how hard it can be to stop him. Yeah and I thought the defense had that one pretty well contained and in fact they probably came up and felt pretty good about what they did. Then they looked up and realized he still got good yardage out of it. He's a tough guy to stop. And that is incomplete. Oh he had a defender right there with him to force that to the ground and fourth down now coming up. They had enough yards for the first down but a clutch hit right there defensively jars it free. No first down. The Ravens send their punter out now as he's on to kick it away. >> [cheering] >> And he didn't quite have the back spin on that one. It hits at the four and continues into the end zone. It's a touchback. Buffalo offense ready to go for their next drive. And they'll run the option to start the drive and nothing doing. He's immediately taken down at the line of scrimmage. Only a yard on the keeper and it'll be second down. If they want to start getting back into this game, it behooves them to get better on first down. >> Yeah, certainly not what they were looking for there out of the opening play of this drive. Second and nine now from the 21. Allen Now he'll tuck this and run. And he gets this one just shy of the 40. They'll mark him down at the 39. The coverage maybe too good that time as he breaks away for 19 with his legs and a first down. It hasn't been the cleanest game for him but there was a sign of improvement as he looks towards the next one. Nice bit of scrambling to move the sticks and even more importantly, he didn't risk adding another interception to his ledger. Swinging this out wide here for Cook. It'll go as a gain of four and it'll be second down. This possession means so much for them. They've got to focus on this drive and find a way to make this a one-possession game. Got to get a score. >> Yeah, so good with a field goal. Don't necessarily need a touchdown. Now with second and six. From the gun it's Allen. Right back to Cook for another completion. Two yards on the pick up there and that'll bring us to a third and four. That might feel like a little bit of a lost opportunity there for the offense because the defense brought pressure that time and sometimes against that you can get it out to your running back and it could turn into a big gain down field. But what a nice job they did getting to him quickly and holding him to a short gain. And this one is incomplete. And they're at the point of the ball game now where they've got to take some chances. They've got to put the ball in the air and just see what happens. But this defense knows that all too well. And they're indeed going to go for it here on fourth down. So trailing here in the last quarter, let's see how this plays out. Now, Allen, got to have this one. And it's incomplete. They cannot convert, and they turn it over. The Bills drive stalls out on fourth down. And the Ravens get the football back and in great shape. The drive will start with an option going left. And he is out of bounds, but not before he's inside the 30. A good chunk on the ground on the keeper, 17 yards, first down. Well, partner, for a few years there, we thought this read option play was going to take over the whole NFL. It seemed like everyone was using it, but it has been scaled back considerably in the last few seasons, mainly because people are worried about their quarterbacks getting hit. But when you call it at the right time and you use it properly, you see the type of gains you can get. A nice chunk of yardage there by the quarterback. Gregory Rousseau able to bring him down. And I'm guessing you'd say this is kind of the key here. Grind out some yardage, work on that clock, see if you can continue to tick it down. >> Definitely. You want to bleed things out at this point, right? Continue to possess the football, gain some yardage, and put the onus on the defense. Do they have to [cheering] use timeouts? What are they going to do to stop you? You're taking charge. No gain on the play there, so they're left with a third down and six. So, nothing there that time, and maybe you need to look to the O-line. They weren't able to create any space. No, they weren't. And you know as well as I do, as many offensive line coaches we've ever met, I think that'll be addressed loudly when those guys get to the sideline. >> And they're usually loud and big. From the gun on third down, Jackson. And they'll work it inside the 15-yard line before it's all said and done. A nifty bit of scrambling there, 12 yards, first down. And Brandon, this is the time of the game when Jackson could really take over. He's got the defense's legs a little bit tired. He's got them on the run. Yeah, this defense looks gassed, and you're exactly right. Second half with the lead, this is when Lamar Jackson seems to thrive. And they run the option here on first and 10. And he's going to work this one down to about the five. He'll get eight on the keeper there. It'll be second and a couple. A little do-it-yourself run right there, and a nice gain. I like that he knew that that was about all he was going to get, so he did a nice job of protecting himself, took care of the football, took what the defense gave him. If they continue to allow him to do that, they'll find their way taking what they can all the way to the end zone. >> [cheering] >> There's Flowers! He's got it! Touchdown, Ravens! Four yards on the touchdown grab. And the Ravens have put this one to bed here in the fourth quarter. He's got them out now to a three-score lead here in the fourth quarter after that one, CD. And well, he looked right off the line like he knew that that ball was coming his way, and he secured it for six points. Yeah, and I think when you're leading by a healthy margin already, it actually loosens you up and allows you to take maybe a few more chances and definitely play with more confidence cuz he certainly saw something he could exploit in the defense, and he made sure to let his quarterback know, "Just get it to me." And the rest was all up to him, and he delivered and made it a three-score game. And they will wrangle him down a couple yards shy of the 30. The Bills come to the line to start their next drive. And last time, went for it on fourth, didn't get it. Let's see if they can pick themselves up. And Allen going to be intercepted for the third time. Picked off by Marlon Humphrey. And he's able to get it back to the 41-yard line. And the busy night for Henry continues. And he's able to break through one tackle, but it's slowed him down enough that he could only manage getting back to the line of scrimmage. Defensively though, they had a chance there to hit him for a loss, couldn't get it done. Look like someone was able to knife into the backfield, but he wasn't able to get him down, but his compatriots, they were able to grab him at the line of scrimmage and not let him get any further downfield. >> [cheering] [cheering] [cheering] >> Off the play-fake, here's Jackson. And this one incomplete. Too much contact to hold onto that one, and it's third down. My first thought is surprise because that's one of the better tight ends around, and I've seen him pull in balls like this before. But how about a little credit to the defense forcing that incompletion? An incomplete pass on second down, it muddles things a little bit here. This is third and 10. Jackson now. And that'll be incomplete. We do have a penalty flag down, however, and let's see what that's about. So, they decline the hold, and that's going to lead to a fourth down. He's averaging just under 50 yards a punt as he gets this away. >> [cheering] >> They go back to the air here after the INT on the last drive. Finding Shakir across the formation. Now, the Bills are going to use the first of their timeouts. As they'll head to the sideline and talk over what to do next. So, the big play gets them across midfield now for first and 10. Here's Allen to throw it. Open man, it's Palmer. So, five yards here, five on the play. And that'll make it second down. So, the shotgun snap to Allen. This to the tight end, Kincaid. Now, the Bills will use the second of their timeouts. As they'll get a chance to talk it over after picking up the first down. >> [screaming] >> Now, Allen again. He's got the connection to Moore. And the Bills are going to have a first and goal as he's taken down at about the 8-yard line. Well, I can put my defensive cap on right now, and I know they're saying, "Don't give up any big plays now." They've controlled this game throughout, and all they want to do is see it through to the end. I think they let their guard down a little bit with that last completion. Sometimes when you're trying not to give up bigger plays, you don't react as fast as you should. throws. And it's caught! And he takes this down to about the two before going out of bounds. That's good for a gain of six, second and goal. They'll run for it with Cook. And he takes it in across the chalk for Bills touchdown! James Cook punching it in from a yard away. And the Bills have got it back to a two-score game here in the fourth. So, they brought the extra bulk in down on the 1-yard line, and they're able to push this one across. Yeah, I can just see your face right now because Oh, the snap of poor one, and this is blocked. Weaving through traffic, and now he's free! And all the way into the end zone, and that's two points. That is a play that you just do not see very often, maybe a couple times a year, the blocked extra point returned for two. You can't afford to give anyone a free run at the kicker. Often times it's going to bounce off his hands or chest and head the other direction. They knew they needed a miracle. They had to have that onside kick. They didn't get it. Well, as we knew even before they put the the toe to the leather on that one, their chances of getting that done, slim and none. And I do believe we saw slim just leave the door, didn't we? >> We did indeed. I think we're down to none. And for the visitors, it is going to be a happy flight home. It is always such a treat, Charles, in the NFL when you can go on the road and get a victory, and that's exactly what they accomplished here today. Oh, the trip home so much sweeter, isn't it? All the noise they heard before, how tough it is to win on the road, how tough it is to play in this stadium, how hyped up that crowd's going to be. They just used it as fuel, came in full confidence, believed in themselves, and got it done. So, for Charles Davis and our entire crew, I'm Brandon Gaudin. Next game, guess what? Charles and I will be here again. It's the NFL on EA Sports.
