This is one of my longer videos but hopefully we have addressed the questions you all have asked and if you have any more feel free to leave a comment below. This video does tend to address questions geared more towards sorority life since Danielle is in a sorority and neither of us can speak much about fraternity life (since we obvs aren't in it). However, I have left the website for the inter fraternity council down below along with the inter sorority council website. I also thought I should mention another important point I left out about why I decided not to rush (because I ran out of time on this already long enough video). I personally feel the whole rush process, especially for women, is degrading. You are essentially going from house to house being interviewed and judged by your peers to tell you whether or not you are good enough or fit in with their clique. (It is like being put into a social circle in high school; however, as I mentioned before this does not mean the people themselves are clique-ish or stand off-ish, I am strictly talking about the system). This is definitely not something I would volunteer to pay for. Along with this, the expensive dues and fees makes Greek life at UVA an elite exclusive organization no matter how inclusive the people themselves are. This itself puts many people at a disadvantage and it is not very surprising that there is not a high amount of diversity. This response is not meant to attack any members in Greek life but I believe it is also important to share my point of view as someone who has considered Greek life and why I chose against it. Again, these are mainly problems I have with the system, not the people. At the end of the day it still seems like a fun organization to join and provides people with great opportunities, but if you don't join, there are 600+ other organizations on Grounds where you can find a home in too.
