Dr. Gerhardt Konig, an anesthesiologist from Maui, is accused of attempting to kill his wife while the two were on a hike in Honolulu. According to investigators, Dr. Konig allegedly pushed his wife toward a cliff, tried to inject her with a syringe, and struck her repeatedly with a lava rock. Konig pleaded not guilty and faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

Thomas Iinuma, a digital forensics examiner with the Honolulu Police Department, took the stand Tuesday to discuss his examination of a laptop that allegedly belonged to Gerhardt Konig. The detective spoke about the several Reddit searches that were done under Gerhardt’s laptop profile that discussed finding out about his wife, Arielle’s, infidelity, and he didn’t know if he could continue their relationship in December 2024.
