Because Astro gives every Toon dreams to help them sleep at night, he takes their nightmares in return. The reason he's always tired is because he doesn’t want to go to sleep and live through those nightmares himself. Because of Astro and Dandy's relationship, Dandy almost always wants Astro with him in his dreams. So Astro gets to live through the kind of dreams he would want for himself vicariously through Dandy. But things can get extremely unhealthy for the both of them if they aren't careful as it gives them a world to hide away in from everyone else when things are getting stressful. They both have a habit of runnning away from their problems and towards each other for comfort, instead of fixing what needs fixing.
