Anyways, Congress just tried to quietly rewrite the entire internet and genuinely thought nobody would notice. On Monday they rammed through the KIDS Act in a 267-117 vote. But buried in the fine print is a loophole that could force EVERY single adult to scan their face or upload a government ID just to use a basic app. Not because the law says to... but because platforms will be too scared of getting sued not to. But here's the beautiful part... it already backfired‼️‼️ The politicians who WROTE the original bill are now furious, because the House ripped the entire accountability rule out at the last second. Child safety groups say it's too weak. Free speech groups say it's too restrictive.
