Truth be told, I haven't really been a fan of ANY of the Star Wars tv shows. The Mandalorian Season 1 is fine, it starts out like a nice weekly serial but then shortly loses what made that special in favor of legacy characters and fan service. The Mandalorian Season 2 was even worse (I'm looking at you CGI Luke Skywalker) despite its bright spots. Part of the problem is none of the Disney Plus Star Wars shows really feel like they're being made for television. Similar to the MCU shows, it feels like they're elongated a feature film idea or shortening a solid tv show concept to fit the confines of 6 30-40 minute episodes. With Andor, it's doing for Rogue One the best star wars movie what the Clone Wars did for the prequels: it’s deepening the characters and adding context to what happens in the story of that film. Unlike with Kenobi, which TRIES to do that, and fails miserably, Andor feels more necessary, taking a previously established foundation and fleshing it out further. Kenobi faltered in how it didn't spend so much time fleshing out what was already present, as much as it did adding new characters and subplots. The Book of Boba Fett is trying to flesh out something known to us, but there's no inference in Return of the Jedi that Boba survived. That was just a popular fanfiction theory that made it’s way into the EU and then eventually became canon. Again, there’s nothing inherently wrong with that especially if you tell the story in a way that actually has something to offer and strengthens the character (which Book of Boba Fett completely failed at), but if you drop the ball, it comes across as an unnecessary cash in on the goodwill, hopes and desires of the fandom.
