"You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to recognize the fact that the world seems to be heading into the sewer. So many of us have turned back to things from our youth (like 80s & 90s music for instance) to find some comfort in a world that seems almost unrecognizable, unwelcoming and increasingly more unstable. I wrote this song as a way to cope with the fact that so much was changing around me, around all of us - and there wasn’t much we could do about it. For me, this wasn’t an anthem to say “I give up” but rather to serve as a reminder that I’m human and subject to the same things all the rest of us humans are subject to. I’m just kinda glad that I won’t be human forever. :) My observation is that human nature innately doesn’t drive us toward progress, but regression (do a quick poke around social media if you disagree.) We mask it in technological and medical advancements and pat ourselves on the back to signify how smart we’ve become. C.S. Lewis called it Chronological Snobbery” and I think he hit the nail on the head.
