Cromm Lastfyre is the bastard of King Maegor the Cruel Targaryen's bastard son who was, some time in the murky past, slain by King Jahaerys I Targaryen to keep his (and by extension Cromm's) existence a secret. Cromm, a child of the mysterious Lonely Lighters, was blessed with visions by the Drowned God and gifted Dreadwind upon his 20th birthday, a sea green dragon who some believe descends from the ancient mythological Nagga. Now Cromm plots his revenge against the Greyjoys for their inability to save his mother, whose assault and subsequent childbirth killed her, leaving Cromm to fend for himself. King Jahaerys I, ever vigilant, looks to the west for what the mistake of his house might mean for Westeros and the world at large as a dragon stirs in Lonely Light.
